A fantastic, volunteer run, local historical museum. The museum is set out on a large area, with lots of separate buildings showcasing different parts of the area's history. The exhibits are well kept and are very interesting. On the first Sunday of each month, they run mini trains around the grounds of the museum, that are great for the kids to ride on. They also run a sausage sizzle and have drinks and baked goods. There are large amounts of old machinery to see and on the days that they run the trains, they will sometimes start some of them up. If you want an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours with the children on the trains, or just looking at the area's history by yourself, then I can definately recommend the Chinchilla Historical Museum. On one of our family get-togethers, one of my daughters had to drop her vehicle in for repairs, so we decided to have a look through the museum. In tow were my 2 and 3yr old grandbabies who also thoroughly enjoyed the time spent wandering around being amazed with all the interesting pieces on display. My daughters and I were totally surprised and had a great time, needless to say the time got away from us and the vehicle was ready before we finished our tour.
