The Colac Botanical Gardens is a hidden gem that offers a serene escape for nature enthusiasts. Designed by the renowned landscape gardener William Guilfoyle, the gardens are beautifully maintained and showcase an impressive variety of flora. The wide-open spaces make it perfect for picnics, leisurely strolls, or simply soaking in the tranquility of the environment.
One of the standout features is the majestic avenue of towering trees, many of which are over a century old. Their grandeur provides ample shade and a picturesque setting that feels both peaceful and inviting. The lake view adds to the charm, with plenty of opportunities for birdwatching. Ducks, swans, and other waterfowl can often be spotted, delighting both children and adults.
For families, the gardens include a playground and plenty of lawn space for kids to run around. There’s also a café on-site, serving coffee and light meals, making it convenient for a relaxing day out. The facilities are well-kept, with clean restrooms and ample seating scattered throughout.
What sets this place apart is its timeless appeal. Whether you’re a local or a visitor passing through Colac, the gardens offer a perfect spot to unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. It’s an ideal stop on the way to the Great Ocean Road or Otways.

My only suggestion would be to stop cars driving through as many drove too fast and most likely didn't get to enjoy what was on offer and plus its a safety issue. There's plenty of parking outside so maybe restrict the access to walking only. Definitely worth...
