"SPECIAL Pulled pork pizza" pulled my attention for days before I had the energy to interact with the public at large. I pulled on my best-least-in-need-of-a-press pants and headed in for a feast.

Parking was issue free for a Wednesday dinner and I fronted up with my best impersonation of a person who isn't habitually introverted.

"Table for One." I requested at the counter as the amiable and well maintained waitress took in my character. Once seated I took the time to admire the bar stocked with liquor and imagined 1500 sweaty bodies vertically packed into the venue - UV lights blazing the kaleidoscope of liquid delights desirable of any exclusive club... and was interrupted - courteously by the waitress again, who apologised for her interruption with a polite, almost knowing  smile.

I've no concept of time really, though I really wasn't more than a few musings between being seated, being handed a menu to contemplate and then being tasked to order. I chose a medium pulled pork pizza and a large Mediterranean-half-Mexican, expecting to make the pizza last a day - the waitress read my mind and assured I could take what was left when I left.

A whimsical thought about tongue piercings and the cost of rent in Colac later and my pizzas had arrived, with another warm smile and exceptional grace. I debated whether to take a picture of my pizza, it was much the deliberation and I did manage to surreptitiously thumb a few off of two whole flat rounds of dense meats and vegetables glazed in cheese and specialty sauces. as it turns out, I can't produce all those photos after having shared a beer with my laptop and backup drive a few nights past. but I don't have the sommeliers' vocabulary to define what I ate... drinks 1/2 bottle of wine.

... well, that didn't do the trick - all I can tell you is - there's nothing about Colac La Porchetta pizzas that will leave you dissatisfied.

A quick napkin equation and I can relate that these pizzas are of high market value:

Damn tasty, quick delivery to my table, a wide selection of fluids to wash it down with and an embodied upbeat energy of the establishment made my "date night" memorable. Of course, it could also have been the exceptional company and...

My previous impression of la porchetta restaurants was as busy, minimal-service, takeaway pizza venues with a handful of tables thrown around to fill in space. Tonight though, la porchetta Colac proved to be anything but what I had experienced elsewhere years ago and absolutely shone in terms of customer service and food. Far from being a stereotypical pizza and pasta Italian restaurant they have a vast menu of traditional Mediterranean and Mediterranean influenced dishes extending far beyond pizza and pasta. Every person at my table had nothing but praise for their meals, all of which were clearly prepared with fresh ingredients all teamed perfectly with one another and cooked to literal perfection. The food, staff, atmosphere, layout and facilities all more than passed the test. A staff member even managed to quiet a group of children on the playground whose screams were dangerously close to peaking the tolerance level of other diners, something I've never even seen attempted by staff at any restaurant where play equipment is present. I never leave reviews for anything online because I'm usually devoid of strong enough emotion either way, but the experience I had tonight is truly an exception to my standard apathy. I will unquestionably be returning to la...

Eh, pizza tasted okay, but it was very soft and ingredients would fall off just by looking at it. It made eating pizza actually difficult lol Wait time was 40mins to get pizza which was supposed to be 10min. Would I be back? Maybe. I went to the other pizza place where Coles is last time and thought I'd try this place cause it was much cheaper.

But I think I will just stick to the other place for now due to this experience. Would I give you a 2nd shot? Sure but right now, I don't feel we are in that sort of situation where I feel ready to place you inside me again just yet.

2 stars because it tastes okay and the price was good. Minus 3 stars for making me wait 40mins and not even apologise for the delay. I can appreciate an apology and acknowledgement that things didn't go right, but to say nothing and take my money is poor. Also the soft pizza and the pizza falling apart, it all just leaves me thinking, how I miss that old school friendly natured pizza man who would make you glad you entered his store.

This...

I don't normally mind a bit of 'tude from wait staff when their food is great, but not so here. Sole travel and dining is common but seating me next to 3 burly workmen in a convenient place for staff but awkward for me is the first sign you may be dealing with amateurs. The fettucini Alla matriciana is a simple dish but this was gluggy salted horror complete with pasta clumps and waaaaay too much straight passata? Eugh. I've had better beans on toast. Saving grace, lovely Canadian at the front counter and hot pizza to go that I ate in my car (better atmosphere at least). Disappointed after driving 60kms round trip on a Monday when other regional towns are closed for dinner.

Friendly staff welcomed us in and made sure we felt that it was a safe as well as relaxed. Consistently good food as per the La Porchetta name we've come to love. With great choices for a family meal out or a night without the kids, there's always something for all. It's great that you can see the pizzas as they're created. We could also see that the ingredients were fresh and of quality. A fun night out for dinner, even in the reduced state that these times warrant. We'll be back again for sure.
