Read moreJo and Terry, who run this place, are the most wonderful people with the biggest hearts. Apart from running a gallery full of wonderful Aboriginal art and selling some opal jewellery (this is Coober Pedy, after all), they also run a kangaroo orphanage - but they'll take in any injured wildlife. They hold kangaroo talks 5.30 pm Mon-Sat, gallery opening hours depend on traffic and season. The lovely Judy also helps out with running of the gallery and caring for the joeys. There's $10 ($5 child) admittance charge but donations are very much appreciated as they don't get any government or other funding and all their money (just like any other wildlife carers in Australia) are spent on the kangaroos. Terry has an amazing knowledge of the Aboriginal art so if you want to learn a thing or three, ask him! Definitely a must if you're in Coober or just...

Out the back though is where the real magic is ... As soon as you walk outside you're greeted with cheeky chatty birds and an elderly kangaroo that loves wasbai peas... But then ... Slung of the shoulder of one of the nicest men in Coober Pedy, you see some paws... After a tasty bottle, she was off and hopping ... Yes she looked like a drunk woman leaving the bar at 3 am but she was as cute as a kitten in mittens... Get down there and support Josephine's ... Definately one of my favourite places in Coober Pedy, actually ... South Australia maybe even Australia...
