Visiting the lake was an experience that felt both peaceful and refreshing the kind of place that makes you forget about time. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by calm, glassy water reflecting the sky and the trees around it. Whether it’s early morning with soft mist rising from the surface or evening when the sunset paints everything in shades of gold and pink, the view is absolutely breathtaking.

The lake area is beautifully maintained, with walking and cycling paths that wind along the shoreline. It’s perfect for a quiet stroll, a morning jog, or simply sitting on a bench to take in the scenery. You’ll often see ducks gliding by, kids feeding them with excitement, and people kayaking or paddleboarding across the gentle water. The atmosphere is calm and inviting — it instantly makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper.

One of the things I love most is how the lake brings people together. Families picnic on the grass, friends meet for coffee by the water, and photographers wait patiently for that perfect reflection shot. Yet, even when it’s busy, it never feels crowded. There’s always a peaceful corner to find your own moment of stillness.

If you stay until dusk, the view becomes even more magical. The water mirrors the changing colors of the sky, and the surrounding lights start to sparkle, creating a scene that feels almost dreamlike.

The lake is a true gem simple yet stunning, calm yet full of life. Whether you come to relax, exercise, or just clear your mind, it’s one of those places that always leaves you feeling lighter and more connected to nature. A beautiful reminder that sometimes, the best things are found in quiet moments...

Fabulous Belconnen lake Wiggs circa 7.0km circuit walk, numerous park facilities, learn to ride kids bike track, a number of boat ramps and BBQ facilities. The lake has periodic artistic works as well, particularly closer to the Boardwalk area.

The bike track that goes around the lake is great for walking, the paths are also dog friendly too. There is even a dedicated dog park located near the lake as well.

There are periodic public toilet facilities all around the lake as well.

Well worth...

Nice park to sit by the water. Not particularly picturesque, but pleasant enough. Good paved walking/cycle paths, BBQ's, exercise & play equipment at various points. Basketball Court & Skate Park near the College (across the road from McDonalds). Public toilets between the Skate Park & the carpark for Crust Pizza etc. Public toilets also near playground in John Knight Park and two other playgrounds/picnic areas on the Western side...

Lake Ginninderra is one of my go to place for fishing in Canberra. The lake was an artificially created lake with plenty of wetland animal living nearby. It is 7km walk if someone wants to cover the entire cycle. The black swans can be seen everywhere while sometimes you get big pelicans. The water does not seem to be as clean as Lake Burley Griffin though, but a good place to be in.
