📍 Location: Turpan Restaurant at BEL, Canberra
I recently saw many recommendations on social media and decided to try Turpan Restaurant at BEL, Canberra. It turned out to be a huge disappointment!
No Plates on the Table As soon as we sat down, we were asked to scan a QR code to order. Fine, but then we noticed there were no plates on the table. How inconvenient!
Asked to Pay Before Eating, Only One Server Shortly after ordering, an elderly server came over and asked us to pay upfront. What? This is supposed to be a restaurant, not a fast food joint. She explained that she was the only server and was worried about people dining and dashing. Ridiculous!
Long Wait, Skewers Served First We waited a full ten minutes, and the first dish that came out was skewers. Then began the long wait. After half an hour, the big plate chicken arrived, followed by the fried noodles twenty minutes later. The last dish took over an hour from ordering to being served! The speed was shocking.
No Service Throughout Throughout the meal, no server came by to check on us, refill drinks, or provide additional utensils. We felt completely neglected.
Payment: Only WeChat or Bpay, No Card Support Finally, when it came time to pay, they only accepted WeChat transfers or Bpay, with the exchange rate determined by the restaurant. No card payment was supported. This experience was beyond frustrating.
Conclusion: I won’t comment on the taste since preferences vary, but the serving speed and service quality were unbearable. Avoid this place at all costs!

Read moreThe hygiene in the restaurant is average, and the food tastes alright, but the service attitude is very poor. We had finished all our other dishes, and the skewers we ordered hadn't arrived yet. After we asked about it, the servers were pointing and whispering among themselves, which made me think they just forgot our order. As a result, we ended up waiting for another fifteen to twenty minutes before we got our food. And throughout the whole time, we didn't receive any apology or even a simple "sorry", and even when they finally served us, their attitude was very...
Read moreCame for dinner with friends to try some bbq in a different kind of environment and flavour context. Was pleasantly surprised.
Food was different and good for the price. Had fried pie, skewers and chilly sprout fried lamb. The fried pie was very interesting. Reminiscent of a pork bun and an empanada combined.
The skewers have minimum order sizes that are inconsistent with what is reported on the menu.
Would recommend for anyone looking for something a little different without...
