I love the Kosciusko Pale Ale so this place was on my 'must do' list for Jindabyne. The brewery is tucked away, so it's really just a big pub (going by the name of Banjo Paterson Inn) with several levels/rooms offering Kosciusko Pale Ale on tap, albeit fresh from the source (i.e. the brewery storage tanks one level down). There's three separate bar areas, two restaurants, a bottle shop and accommodation. The pub offers daily specials and there seem to be plenty of activities such as trivia, raffles, a weekly nightclub and live performances. The dreaded gaming room and TAB & betting facilities weren't missing either though the outdoor deck overlooking Lake Jindabyne offers a good option for turning one's back on those while enjoying a drink with a view. We ended up ordering food from the 'Brasserie', which was surprisingly good for 'pub grub' — fresh, flavorsome and high quality products. I'd go back for the whole baked trout anytime and my companion endorsed the herb-crusted pork filled with leek and blue cheese. After a day of walking, it did not hurt that the portions were on the generous...
Read moreFirst place I visited in Jindabyne. Staff were for the most part quite lovely.
I ordered a Glass Of red and a bowl of fries with cheese. I wanted a small version of the cheesy fries. Large cheesy fries is $10. There is no small option. I just asked if I could have cheese on top of the small fries, I'm happy to pay extra.
He said sorry we only do large. I'm literally looking right at the cheese he could potentially put on my fries. It was like when I suggested it his brain just went full "computer says no". Again reminding him I'm happy to pay extra. If there is a lack of attention to detail over a bowl of fries I didn't have much faith in a full meal. Fries were nice, though. We managed to come to a deal of $7.
My plan was to have a quick snack, go to my hotel, check in, get ready and come back for a bigger feed here. But honestly after how petty it all felt I just decided to go to Ela Messa. Which...
Read moreCosy little place in Jindabyne. Food was delicious although servings were abit small for the price. Ordered a burger + fries and 2 pizzas which cost about $66 for 2 people, pizzas are thin crust and rather small.
They didn't have an issue amending the sauces in my burger which was appreciated. Order at the kitchen and collect your food when ready. Went on a Sunday night and it was very quiet. Beer was great, enjoyed the apple cider and their home...
