My wife and I recently visited Altona Beach, and we were blown away by its beauty and serenity. This hidden gem in Melbourne's western suburbs boasts a pristine coastline, crystal clear waters, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. What really stood out to us about Altona Beach was how peaceful it was. We were able to unwind and soak up the sun without feeling overcrowded or rushed. There are plenty of amenities available at Altona Beach, including picnic areas, barbeque facilities, and playgrounds. These made it an ideal spot for families to spend the day, and we saw many children having a blast in the sand and water. One thing we particularly enjoyed was taking a stroll down the nearby pier. The views from here were simply stunning, and it was the perfect spot to watch the sunset. Overall, we would highly recommend Altona Beach to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful coastal destination. Whether you're looking to sunbathe, swim, or simply take in the scenery, this beach has something for everyone. So if you're in the area, be sure to check it out!

As a regular walker in the area, I have the opportunity to visit Altona Beach almost daily. While I appreciate the ongoing improvements to the area, I am consistently struck by the persistent and unpleasant odor that seems to permeate the beach. This odor is not only a nuisance, but it also makes my daily walks in the area quite unpleasant. I believe it is essential for the local council to investigate and address the root causes of this issue. In my opinion, engaging with local experts, such as biologists and environmental scientists, would be a crucial step in identifying solutions to this problem. By working together, I am confident that we can restore Altona Beach to its former glory and make it a clean and enjoyable space for all members of the community. Rating: 3.5/5 stars Recommendation: Addressing the odor issue and improving waste management practices would significantly enhance the overall experience of visiting Altona Beach.

As far as Port Phillip bay beaches go, Altona is one of my favourites. Centrally located within a 20 minute drive from Melbourne's cbd, this beach is quieter, cleaner and more accepting than many others. It doesn't matter how 'fit' you look and it isn't a fashion/ modelling parade of 'bikini bodies' as it is at some other Melbourne beaches (I.e. St Kilda, Brighton) People of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes are welcome here. Coming to Altona for a few years and being all different sizes (my weight fluctuates) and wearing a bikini, I have never once felt out of place. There are amazing cafes here too, a cute little ice cream shop, and I also highly recommend doing the full walking track by the beach, where the views are amazing. You can go to 100 steps and see a spectacular view of the city, or walk the other way and end up at the boat ramp and dog beach, where you'll be greeted by the cutest off leash dogs šŸ˜ This beach has everything, and with only a 20 minute drive from the city, it's definitely a good day trip, minus all of...
