My wife and I recently visited Altona Beach, and we were blown away by its beauty and serenity. This hidden gem in Melbourne's western suburbs boasts a pristine coastline, crystal clear waters, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

As far as Port Phillip bay beaches go, Altona is one of my favourites. Centrally located within a 20 minute drive from Melbourne's cbd, this beach is quieter, cleaner and more accepting than many others. It doesn't matter how 'fit' you look and it isn't a fashion/ modelling parade of 'bikini bodies' as it is at some other Melbourne beaches (I.e. St Kilda, Brighton) People of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes are welcome here. Coming to Altona for a few years and being all different sizes (my weight fluctuates) and wearing a bikini, I have never once felt out of place. There are amazing cafes here too, a cute little ice cream shop, and I also highly recommend doing the full walking track by the beach, where the views are amazing.
