Hi there, i just walked over from Altona station which is five minutes away. it'just past 11 am on a Saturday that i walked in and ordered The Classic Burger for 13$ and a regular beer battered fries 6$. Service is friendly, was informed that my order will be brought to me outside where i sat. There is five bench seats and tables facing each other. While you wait you can admire the view of Altona beach and pier which is a hundred metres away. The food came in less than ten minutes in a large paper bag. Isorted myself out and sampled the fries which were crisp not soggy and tasted crunchy and appertising, i dont know if they really batter them in beer or is just a name but they tasted slightly of beer, which is to say they tasted very nice. Afterwards i started on the burger which came in a fresh, soft yellow, amost sweet roll. I didnt expect anything exeptional because my last four burger reviews around Melbourne burger restaurants were just that, Flat and ordinary, however this burger, well it tasted just nice, you know it when you take the first bite it's, oh yes, just another tasteless patty or, as in this case, yes, a really nice tasting patty. I wished right that i oedered a double patty one but you just dont know. The sallad and was fresh and just right. My only if i maycsay negativity is that it could be bigger, the burger i mean. Very friendly lads and chatty and quick. I recommend Between 2 Buns. See you in a few weeks at a burger restaurant in Melbourne, Cheers. Next Saturday will review Beatbox Kitchen or Royal Stacks in Sydney Rd....
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Between 2 Buns Altona and decided to try their Cheesy Fries with Tomato dip. While I was excited to indulge in this classic comfort food, I must admit that I was taken aback by the pricing.
The Cheesy Fries themselves were enjoyable – the cheese was perfectly melted, and the fries had a nice crispy texture. However, I was surprised to see that the fries alone were priced at $12.95. This struck me as quite steep for what essentially amounts to a serving of fries.
My surprise turned into disbelief when I noticed that the Tomato dip, which was served in what seemed like a small portion, was an additional $2. Charging $2 for what felt like a minimal amount of sauce felt a bit excessive, and I couldn't help but feel like it was somewhat of a rip-off.
In total, my order of Cheesy Fries with Tomato dip ended up costing me $15.14, which, in my opinion, is a rather high price point for what is essentially fries and a dipping sauce. While the taste was enjoyable, the value for money left much to be desired. I appreciate quality food, but I believe that a fairer pricing structure would enhance the overall dining experience at Between 2...
Read moreJust went to here today and have been to many burger joints around Victoria.
Cheese and Bacon fries; the chips themselves weren't all too bad, but the melted cheese was kraft square cheese as you could see it going hard on the chips.. The bacon also tasted like coles bacon which I wouldn't be surprised as coles is 100m away..
The burger; I had "The Double", the bun itself was too small for my liking and their B2B "sauce" is barely noticeable and over powered by the mustard. The beef was too burnt on the outside and a little too pink on the inside + didn't like it how there was heaps of pepper corn in the burger pattie really ruined the flavour. The best part of the burger was the lettuce which was incredibly fresh and deliciously crunchy.
For the price and location I would have to give it a 4/10, Considering that the menu is near identical to 8bit in Footscray I would much rather go to 8bit as it is 7$ cheaper for 2 burgers + 2 cheese and bacon fries and the flavour kills B2B.
If you've got money to spend and want to have some of the best food on pier street go to B2B but if you're a real foodie suggest to...
