Title: Mixed Experience at Gunners Bistro
I’ve been a regular at the RSL for the enticing Wednesday steak night, but my recent visit to Gunners Bistro on a Thursday left me with mixed feelings. Opting for the Thursday night $17.00 Fish & Chips at the counter I turned to the Surf &Turf platter and a kids meal, In which I decided to share with my family.
Despite ordering the surf and turf platter and a kids schnitzel for my daughter, plus drinks the total bill was well over $110.00 for the dinning experience.
The girl serving me took the order for the kids meal which was Chicken Schnitzel and fries as initially I requested mash but this is an added $7.50.
I agreed and asked does the fries come with veg and she said yes. I then I noticed 2 wines were complimentary to the surf and turf platter. Asking the question I was then told on Saturday only.
I couldn’t help but wonder about the inconsistency, as Saturdays offer two complimentary wines for a same order and price but not on a Thursday.
Adding to the confusion, a $7.50 charge for mash instead of French fries felt unnecessary. Other bistro's just give you it or at even less then half that price.
Conversing with the chef highlighted the peculiar situation of ordering a kids meal for a non-kid, leaving me puzzled about the logic behind such pettiness.
What is the big deal I've just spent over $90 with your business.
While I’ve dined at numerous bistros, Gunners stands out for its seemingly stingy approach to catering services, making the overall experience less than...
Read moreWe've been locals for over 10 years now but don't visit very often and every time we do the food seems to slip further and further downhill. Last night, after booking a table for 2, we were seated at a huge table for 16!! We ordered the garlic bread which came out soft and barely cooked, like it had been microwaved? I mentioned this to the guy who collected our plates and he said we needed to let the kitchen we wanted it crispy. Really?? We hardly touched it. Pork Schnitz was a bit tough to cut. Salad is literally a bunch of leaves. Crepes were disgusting, again probably microwaved.. and pre bought? I've been to a few private Veterans lunches and the food is always delicious! I'm not sure if they use private/outside chefs?? Hubby meets his mates every Sat for a few drinks and a bet, they used to order lunch, but now they go elsewhere for lunch first cos the food is so disappointing. We asked for a doggy bag for one of our meals that we couldn't finish, the guy clearing our table said he'd be back with it, but never returned, we told the other waitress who said he probably forgot and threw...
Read moreWe came here with a senior group with a booking. We waited in line to get seated, with no attention whatsoever. We decided it would be smart to choose from the senior’s menu while we waited. Only to get to the front of the line & be told to we would be given an order sheet to write down all the orders as staff (Chris)said he was too busy to take individual orders for a big group. We were then moved to the cold back room, with no cutlery to fill in the form. (If we had a booking why was nothing ready for us?) We placed the order to be told by Chris there were a lot of orders ahead of us, but we could pay our 2 meals now. Then we approach to pay to save the time later, Chris refused to take payments saying he now had a lot to do will take payments after .we order meals at 1230 and got our meals by 2 pm Wow then serving the meals he kept repeating we had too many walk ins this and that but we have done the booking 3...
