A mid sized shopping centre located in the Western suburbs near Werribee / Hoppers Crossing, pretty much standard & similar to any other shopping centre of similar size. Located on the corner of two major roads in the area it is very accessible by car (with a large number of car parking spaces spread along the perimeter, however not the easiest to access if travelling by public transport as from the station you would need to connect to a bus, which don't travel as frequently or as late as you would expect for such a major destination. As you enter the complex there is a the Plaza Tavern (pokies, bar & bistro), a Villiage Gold Class cinema, as well as a Hungry Jack's & KFC all situated on the outskirts of the major part of the shopping area. The centre has a good variety of shops, including the larger & better known ones such as Myer, Kmart, Big W, Coles, Safeway, Aldi, Chemist Warehouse, JB Hi-fi & H&M. As a side note, it also has one of my most favourite places to shop which is TK Maxx, which is definitely one to add to the list of places to visit if in the area. There is also a number of well known food places at the entrance where you can dine in or take away, as well as have these places deliver via uber eats or Menulog, (with a special mention of The Pancake Parlour which is just a personal preference & recommendation.) Anyhow, the first negative I found is that there are very few information stands throughout the centre so I found it doesn't make it easy to navigate when looking for a particular store. Being one of my local shipping destinations I have been here on multiple occassions, & each time have found it to be busy but not overly crowded, which leads to the second negative which is that there didn't appear to be many cleaning staff on duty which you would expect to see due to the amount of foot traffic, as the centre always appears rather dirty & I don't ever recall seeing anyone attending to this during normal business hours. After hours when only a small number of shops are open I have seen one or two every so often but not to the extent i would expect for such a large shipping area. Also, in regards to after hours shopping (after 5/5:30pm weekdays etc) there are a few places still open (such as Aldi until 8pm, Coles until 10pm, Woolworths until 10pm* & Kmart until midnight*, as well as some of the food locations) but it can be difficult to actually get from one to another as they are spread over different locations inside the centre & outside normal hours security have blocked off access to majority of the centre so you need to walk the perimeter to get from one to the next. Also, when I did ask security for directions they were extremely rude & standoffish & appeared to feel it was too much hassle to be asked, so responded with a very abrupt response of "you have to go around" whilst pointing to the exit before turning away indicating the end to the matter or further questions I may have had. So overall not a very impressive place to shop however due to the convenience of all the store being in one area still somewhere I go on a fairly regular basis, & not so bad to want to avoid it completely. 2/5 stars is probably just above what it is worth but as I can't give a half star it is closer to the 2 star mark rather...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusted how Pacific Werribee security and management treated my disabled brother and father tonight. My brother has catatonia in autism and was at the Plaza this evening accompanied by my father when he went into a catatonic episode. Four security guards attended and refused to get a wheelchair when asked, claiming management won’t let them. They interrogated my father while he rang my mother to bring a wheelchair from home.
Then the four of them stood around and watched as my parents (who are both near 70) tried to lift my unconscious brother into his wheelchair, and shouted that they weren’t allowed to cover my brother with a blanket - “You’ll suffocate him” and called the police. To make matters worse, the four security guards then escorted my family out of the plaza as if they were criminals, and surrounded the car so they couldn’t leave until they had taken down the registration number.
It doesn’t take much to be compassionate, to offer assistance, to get a simple wheelchair or to be courteous enough to not tell every person who passes by the details of what is happening. If this is how you treat people with disabilities and their carers, you...
Read moreWerribee Pacific or Werribee Plaza, as the locals know it, is the largest shopping centre in Melbourne's west. The shopping centre is very big , has all the major retailers, and it has air-conditioning throughout. It has three food courts. All in all, it is a temple for consumerism that creates feelings that there is something that doesn't quite connect with the local community in the west. You get the feeling that it's all about profits for the retailers, especially the big ones! Smaller retailers suffer, as we hear. It's probably how the demographic in the west is evolving, that doesn't match this consumerism vibe. Recently, there were issues with the structure of the building, which forced some retailers to shut down for a while (Target, restaurants etc.), and big issues in the adjacent parking lot. While the retailers (not the restaurants) are back and open, there are still visible issues with parking which makes one wonder what the real issues are. Are people at risk? I hope not! Going to Werribee Plaza these days is a challenge as parking is very,...
