Great place to walk 🚶‍♀️ around. HISTORY Built between 1874-1876 for prominent landowner baronet and philanthropist Sir William Clark. The mansion features a ballroom, billard room, breakfast and lounge rooms, 2 reception rooms, 6 main bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and servants quarters. There's a road going through the property for carting produce, plus a railway 🛤 line and platform so guests could arrive at the property via railway 🛤 between 1909-1913. The estate even included a half battery of horse 🐎 artillery when Sir William Clark formed a privately sponsored regiment in 1885. Rupertswood is considered the birthplace of the Ashes trophy 🏆 the Clark's hosted the touring English team in 1882, which is when the trophy 🏆 was presented to the winning team after a friendly match. In 1927, the mansion became an all boys boarding school 🏫 known as the Salesian Society. In 1950, they started admitting day students , and in 1980's, girls were admitted, and by 1997, the school 🏫 became a fully co- educational institution and ceased student boarding. In 1997, the school 🏫 moved out of the building it was renovated and became a venue for accommodation and events it ceased around 2004 and reverted back to the Salesian College for administration. The mansion is one of the largest private houses 🏠 constructed in Victoria and is on the Victorian Heritage Register.

Very disappointed. We got married her 25years ago. It had beautiful tree lined meandering long driveway leading this amazing building. So much history and old charm. Now it’s taken over by a school and they use the old building for offices! It’s a concrete jungle no charm no character. What a waist there is nothing left. So...
