Read moreI’m writing this based on our experience tonight in Gold Class. It is my wife’s birthday and she wanted to have myself and our two kids have our first all together experience in gold class, our son is 12 and our daughter 6 who is special needs. Her triggers are instability or unexpected changes so we have to be very structured. This is why else thought gold class would be ok due to it always being well managed. It started off ok. We were seated in the waiting area and after a very long wait asked for our order. After another long wait due to the cinema “being a mess” as we were told, we eventually got into the cinema. I did notice something strange about the commercials and previews when we were waiting, however thought. “Is what it is”. People we bit by bit getting their food, my wife and son seated in front of us got their cooked prepared meals quite quickly. My daughter and I waited for our choice of the standard movie items, popcorn, drink and choc top. She was getting restless as all others received their items and we were left unattended. The movie then started and to my dismay it was some Russian submarine film commencing. She started to lose it, as I walked her towards the door staff shot the lights on and said “sorry wrong movie!”. This just sent us into a spiral. I calmed her for as long as I could and pleaded for our simple food. It still didn’t come for 15-20minutes. After this trigger she was a ticking time bomb. Half way through the movie that was it. I had to carry her out screaming and head to the disabled toilet to calm her. We then walked around Southland until my wife and son came out. Still trying to calm multiple attacks. So thank you Gold Class Southland for wasting $300+ of my money and causing distress on our special needs child and ruining my wife’s birthday due to your inability to perform your standard process. I thought Gold Class was the best standard in cinema we’ve got. I was very wrong.
*side note edit, they started playing Oppenheimer (MA15+) which means they were playing MA15+ previews which is why they felt “off”. We went to see The Barbie Movie (PG). They may have broken a few regulations...
Read moreThis was a terrible experience at Village Southland. Arrived in the queue with 10 people ahead of us at 6.25 to see a 6.50pm movie. Two people serving, one for the 2 customers in the Goldclass, internet booking etc line and I assumed one for the other queue of at least 40 full fee paying customers. No I was wrong, both were serving (as they had probably been asked to by management) prioritised the gold class queue which only ever had one person waiting at a time. At 6.45 I did question the one on our side as we still hadn’t been served and were 4th in our queue, when another person who had just walked into the gold class queue was served first. I and all the other customers were becoming very frustrated. Finally got our tickets at 6.55 only to find at the entrance they had given us incorrect tickets. With at least 10 cinemas all capable of seating 100 plus customers, two people on a Saturday evening is clearly understaffing the venue. I felt sorry for the staff who were receiving the brunt of the customers dissatisfaction. I am sure a lot of people missed the start of their movie. My friend also gave up waiting in the ice cream queue too. No wonder there were only 8 people in our cinema which was cold, dirty and smelly. I usually have a much better experience when I go to Palace or the Classic cinemas where the service for both tickets and food is fast and fair on a first come basis. We will not be returning and certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else unless you have at least an hour to spend before the movie. Take a lesson from your competitors and value all your customers. No one minds waiting if it’s...
