My Kebabz opened up just recently and they're remarkably good. To the point where, had they opened up during the HSP craze around 2016, I think these guys would be up there as one of the greats alongside Glenny Kebabs, Centreway Kebabs, and Queens Kebab.
This here is a solid HSP. I got the medium size with mixed meats (chicken and lamb) and the holy trinity combination of sauces (chilli, garlic, and BBQ), which was around $20.
The reason why it's good is a few factors. The chips were nice and crispy with a decent amount of chicken salt. The cheese was melted perfectly and stretchy. The meat wasn't dry, and had good marination and good flavours. The 3 sauces were sweet, but not overly so, with the chilli sauce having a little bit of kick to it. And surprisingly, the chips weren't swimming in a vat of oil. Very clean, very nice.
My only critique is that it's missing something to get a full 5 from me. Maybe some herbs? Maybe chicken/lamb from a different supplier?
What I mean is that I think they use Tek Foods meat or something similar. And Tek Foods is an acquired taste — you either love it or are indifferent. Or you can hate it too, but I don't think many people do.
To me, either way, the meat was tasty, for lack of a better word. But perhaps overplayed — a lot of kebab places use Tek Foods, and I think it would be awesome if some places shifted away from them. I get it, they're a safe bet. But I love a good slightly burnt lamb over a coal fire — that taste is indescribably delicious.
Otherwise, a nice addition to the Southland food court. Hope...
Read moreIt is exciting to have a Kebab option inside the centre again after so many years of the previous one.
The staff were lovely and prepared the food quite quickly.
It is a fairly decent kebab of a standard serving size and well cooked and decently stuffed.
It was just too mild for me.
Perhaps it is catering to the older crowd.
I had ordered my kebab with chilli and garlic sauce, extra tabouleh.
While I could detect those flavours, they didn't stand out or kick at all. Which might appeal if you are not a fan of chilli, but if you are not a fan of chilli, you could just not order chilli.
The garlic sauce really needed to be much stronger, in my humble opinion. I could barely taste if there was any garlic at all.
The meat was juicy and tender, cooked to perfection, but again, it just lacked spice.
The chips were golden and crispy but too salty, and the chicken salt was not mixed through evenly.
Overall, the staff are lovely, and it is good enough if you would just like a kebab, but there is room for improvement or more suitable for...
Read moreWent to My Kebabz in the Cheltenham mall for a sit down early dinner. Located on the top floor of the mall and in the centre. There was plenty of seating available when were went. Ordered an HSP and a kebab with drinks. HSP was good size and had good sauces. Tasted good. Kebab tasted good though was a bit more oily than usual. Staff were nice and service didn't take long. Prices good for the portion sizes. Doing the brand...
