It's a great walk, especially when the water is clean. A few things let it down, but that's the people not the place. Take your poo bags and your coffee cups home.
The river meanders up to Warrandyte and then around Pound Bend. It's a lovely walk, usually it's pretty quiet. Warrandyte is underrated. People tend to flock to beaches on a good day, so if the weather is good, head to a park or the hills.
Lots of nature. Not seen any koalas around the bend yet, but you guaranteed to see at least a few things on a walk. I can't get enough if this place and if I'm not going far, then a coffee at Arthur's Creek and a walk around the bend is always on the cards.
Warrandyte has a fair bit of history, with interesting geological features and bushland. The town is nice, but the star of the show is the beautiful river and its surroundings.
People are always curious about snakes. I've walked a few hundred km around Warrandyte and I've not seen any yet. There's some massive...
Read moreIt’s a lovely picturesque walk along the track by the river. With plenty of seats and benches scattered along the track, where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful outlook. However it is a popular spot - particularly for people walking their dogs (often off leash) - but there is good car parking availability at various points. One of the nearby highlights for families with young kids is the awesome playground. Another feature of the location is “The Bakery” which is positioned close to the river - and a popular spot for pastries, cakes and coffee. We enjoyed a leisurely morning walking along the river track, later having a pastry from the Bakery and browsing in some of the local shops (including a book shop and antique shop). Overall, a very pleasant place for a relaxing...
Read moreLoved walking here. There were a few spots to park; I chose the parking near the Stiggant Reserve Public Toilet, but there were other spots and other toilets. There were a few track offshoots, but the main trail is wide and in good condition. The river was in fine form when I was there in September. There were picnic tables and bench seats here and there, and an interesting playground (with cafe) in one spot. And it’s just such a pretty area. The walk I did was from Stiggant past the bridge, back again and a little way in the other direction (with a few offshoots onto muddier little tracks) and was about 5km. It felt like I’d walked as far as the trails went in each direction, but perhaps there is more to explore. Certainly worth a...
