I ordered gluten free toast and they served me regular toast with gluten in it. I did not eat it, thankfully, and luckily my intolerance to gluten traces isn't severe. We asked the waitress to check if it was gluten free and took five minutes to come back to us to tell us there was a mix up. Then she brought gluten free toast just as I was finishing the meal. She was somewhat apologetic but really didn't seem interested. When it came to paying the bill, we asked to check it to make sure we weren't being charged for the mistake. We then impressed upon the waitress how important people's dietary requirements are, as some people get very sick even from traces. This feedback seemed to upset her, but we weren't overcharged, so we paid the bill and decided to leave. Then the manager came out and yelled at us for upsetting his staff and said he didn't care if I got sick from the food he served, which was a real possibility if I had eaten all of it. When we tried to explain ourselves, he continued to yell, so we decided to ask for a full refund. It was a tense and awkward situation for us and other customers. We got a full refund but the manager couldn't help but say "I hope you enjoyed your free lunch." Completely disrespectful to two customers who had phoned ahead, ordered what I needed and didn't get what I asked for.

Dietary requirements are not to be taken lightly. This cafe does not offer much in the way of gluten free food anyway. So if you have dietary requirements, I say avoid Kokomo completely.

IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: while I might not have indicated I was the caller, I did actually ask for gluten free bread when placing my order. She didn't need to know I was the caller to get the order correct. Maybe she should write things down when...

we didn't get to eat here because it was closing, and the staff at the time were absolutely so sweet about that! but we had wrongly assumed that because it was about to close, and that there was another table outdoors occupied, that we could stop for a rest with our dog and have something to eat. i feel awful that we made a mistake with that, but the way we found out was so horrible!!

the manager or person in charge at the closing time I'm guessing, came out and asked us to leave as they weren't a "picnic table" they were a business, and if we were going to eat food that wasn't theirs, then we could leave. but their staff had made it very clear ten minutes or so ago that they weren't selling food at the time?

I'm not sure what drew the response from that particular staff member to be so sarcastic and annoyed, but that really truly was an honest mistake on our part :// please be kinder to your patrons...

Dear Warrandyte Bridge Cafe Team,

I recently had the pleasure of attending a Christmas celebration at Warrandyte Bridge Cafe, and I wanted to express my gratitude for such a wonderful experience.

The festive atmosphere you created was truly delightful, with beautiful decorations and thoughtful touches that brought the holiday spirit to life.

The food, drinks, and service were exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the variety of dishes and the opportunity to try unique and distinctive flavors. The special wine was a highlight of the evening! A special thank you to your kind and attentive staff, who went above and beyond to make the event even more enjoyable.

Thank you for organizing such a memorable event. Your effort and attention to detail did not go unnoticed, and it made the celebration truly special.

I look forward to visiting your cafe again soon.

Warm...

What a little gem this place is! We were on our way back from the Tulip festival & we all had a bit of an appetite wanting more than just a cafe style meal. Thankfully Kokomo was open & so was the kitchen (for meals). Mum is the chef & daughter is the great barista 😊. The lamb Persian stew was just want we wanted, a warm homemade meal. The flavours were delicious!!!!! 👌🏽 Also the roast pumpkin salad with chicken was enjoyable. Would love to try their breakfast menu on our next visit when in Warrandyte. My 3/4 full latte was spot on! Highly recommend this cafe.

The coffee is consistently excellent, and the food is fresh, delicious, and well-presented. The staff are always warm and welcoming, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or a leisurely brunch, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Warrandyte!

We regularly enjoy a Friday night meal at Kokomo while listening to local music. Food always great. Went in for breaky with friends in the last week, again the food is great. They were busy but a minimal wait on our meals was impressive. Aida, the owner, makes this place. She greets everyone, you are seen and welcome from the moment you sit down. Will be back, love supporting local, and this hidden gem so close to home is a firm favorite now.
