I had a coffee and pastie, which were both delicious BUT when I ordered I was given a buzzer and told when everything is ready it will buzz. I went outside and waited near the window. The buzzer went off and I went to the window and my coffee was there. I said 'is there a pastie with that?' to which was said 'I only do coffees' so I went inside and approached someone behind the counter and began to ask, to which I was abruptly told ' I'm serving someone else'. (I wasn't aware of this). A customer then said to me in front of everyone 'you are bucking the system'. I was made to feel like a selfish person pushing in in front of everyone. I was given my pastie and then went outside to have it.P
A simple apology in front of the customers from a staff member while this was happening would have resolved this. I know the staff are young and likely inexperienced, so maybe some training on how to handle situations that are out of the normal would be good. Eg the coffee girl could have tried to help me without me having to go back in or the guy behind the counter saying ' I'll just be a moment'. Located on the river side of Warrandyte, with an enormous playground that will excite any kid (let alone parents), it’s a must visit if in Warrandyte. There is a covered shelter for dining outside as well as a large area covered by large umbrellas that offer a lot of cover in the wet but still not 100% dry. Options of food are abundant with croissants, lemon tarts, donuts, pies, sausage rolls and so much more. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate available. The ‘bakery’ is a well known spot for school kids come to after school for a play and a bite to eat before heading off to swimming, Sport practice or wherever. Dogs are welcome - they are welcome anywhere in Warrandyte. Note the lovely mosaic chair made by local artisans. Plus the old water trough. Access to the river is through the archway and is only 20 metres away. Beware of snakes here in the warmer months. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Good parking out the front on Yarra Street as well as a car park down below near playground which you can access via a road only a 20 metres east...
