Little Beach Reserve — Attraction in Nelson Bay

This is a fantastic beach, a local favourite for picnics, especially at sunsets. Also some fishing here and a boat ramp at the end where the pelicans hang out.

Not an ocean facing beach so no big waves which is nice for the kids. The grass area is really nice for picnics and BBQs. There are also good shower and toilet facilities and a gas BBQ. Quite a bit of parking too. Also a nice childrens’ play area. Just up from the beach is a great local fav restaurant and bar (Little Beach Boat House) which is an awesome venue.

Little Beach is just as the name states; for little ones. It's great because of small waves and a slow slope into the bay for kids. It's great that you can set up your tents on the grass for the day, and it has all the amenities. It's usually protected from winds as well. The only downsides are the beach is located in Port Stephens and they charge money for parking as well as the water can be chilly even in mid summer. Kids had a lot of fun building sand castles & enjoyed a dip in the shallow water Water depth increases suddenly in the swimming area so be ware if you have little kids or non confident swimmers
