Finally had the opportunity to see this beautiful home. It is right next to the showground so can be paired with a visit to Hanging Rock or Ben’s Walk.
The staff are lovely and our tour guide was Nicole, she was engaging and friendly. The tour was over an hour long but it didn’t drag at all as there is so much to see in the home. I’m an architecture buff so the small details about the construction of the home were of particular interest to me.
To make the most of a visit, I would recommend reading up on the history of the home prior as 4 generations can be a lot to digest, it also helped me to understand the tour better. Nicole did give us a run down of the family tree which was much appreciated and put everything in perspective.

Finding out that the last generation from the same family had lived here during my lifetime made a big impression. The house is basically kept intact from that era - when families entertained visitors in the genteel drawing room, and the world was moving towards new machines and home equipment. The house itself was very beautiful and it was great to see the personal touches the owners put in the house over the years.
