Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park (Parks Victoria) — Attraction in Point Lonsdale

Fabulous place to visit 365 days a year. From the lighthouse or pier there are great views across ‘the heads’. Good interpretation / information boards. Fishing from the pier appears to be a popular part time and you also have great views back to the beach from here. A lot of history in the area so do read the little pamphlets that are sprinkled at various access points to the park. Abide by rules as law enforcement are strict here. The Rip is best viewed from the lookout at Point Lonsdale light or from the ferry midway to Sorrento on the Mornington side. When the tide is running it can get up to 8 knots and the whole of Port Philip bay water is running through a narrow gap of on a couple of km.
