It was a great day with the kids. Honestly I thought it was a bit expensive but once we went through and seen everything it had to offer it was 100% worth it! Definitely will take the kids again they all got something out of it, 12 year old, 3 year old and 8 month old. Plan on going back with out the kids as well so we can take everything in with out the distraction kids bring. 😂 10/10 You get your money's worth for sure, learn somethings and the kids were amazed by lots of the interactive features and big displays. Incase it's not clear I would definitely recommend this to anyone with kids, people that have an interest in Pt. August and surrounding towns, Older times or want to kill some time 👍

Lots of history. The video presentations are great. But a bit lengthy for me. And most of the videos look like were made in the 90’s? Not very clear. The outback cinema would be great with some more ventilation. I can see the effort in making this museum but it felt like a lengthy history class. I liked the aboriginal stories, it helped me to understand their connection to this land better.

Whilst in Port Augusta, the Information centre has a terrific Cafe and is the entry to Wadlata Outback Centre, Information as to how the earth evolved, to the explorers and the parts of Australia each discovered, their lives and hardships, building the first railway, the telegraph, communications and a great deal more, all well documented and also many films.

After reading all of the positive reviews I can only assume that we are an anomaly. We must have arrived there at the wrong time, met the wrong person on the wrong day. It just after 2 in the arvo and we were told that the kitchen had closed which is fine but to be dismissed in such a curt and off handed way left a bitter taste for us for the centre. I can not see that we did anything to offend except wait patiently until a staff member appeared for us to ask if the kitchen was open. We were cordial and friendly however the sentiment was not returned, and were offered a look of disdain even before a word was uttered. On positive side the building is nice, the toilets are clean and there is a bit of information to...

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. We arrived at just after 12 and didn’t leave until after 3. So much to see. Excellent caravan parking for us. We have a long caravan and a troopy so we don’t often fit in regular caravan spaces. We ate at the cafe. Can highly recommend the Kangaroo pie with quondong chilli jam and the iced coffees. Service was friendly and timely. We went through the Tunnel of Time exhibit and I found it really interesting to see Dreamtime stories alongside the Science. The train information was confusing in its layout so difficult to follow the “time line”. The display of the four European explorers (Eyre, Sturt, Stuart, and Giles) was exceptionally well done. All in all a...
