Pobably the best beach on the SC if you have toddlers (or are old, like me) as there's a natural wading pool that is warmed by the sun and usually has myriad tiny shells to find. This pool is far enough away from the canal entrance for effluent not to be a concern (and people swim in the canal anyway), but close enough to be entertained by passing boats. There's also usually surfers out and kites (the bird - this kind of kite surfing is frowned upon and can get messy) circling overhead and small fish, hermit crabs and other aquatic life to keep the toddlers (and older people) amused. Read moreOne of this part of the coast's 5 star beaches: it has it all - rockpools, fringing trees and shade, clean water, wide and long stretch of sand, and infinite space for longer walks along the water. The only drawback is limited parking but if you get there early (or late) enough you can snag a spot in the parking lot, which also has a public loo. Failing that, try the parking lot at the corner of Pacific Blvd and Harbour Parade: it's only a few minutes walk back...

After 4pm it is dogs off lead, lots of regulars so the dogs get to play and have a great time. Great walk if you park at La Balsa and follow the path around to the beach, up the hill to the water tank and down the hill. Great views and lovely spot...
