The general area on south bank of the Mooloolah river is very pleasant area to visit and have a picnic by the water, with the Mooloolaba marina, coast guard and water police visible from most vantages on this side.

This is also a major fishing port for commercial trawlers, with the Moolooaba fish market available to the public (approximately 15 minutes drive by car)

Other attractions include Sea Life Aquarium, formerly known as Underwater World.

Sea charters, seafood cruises and largely alfresco dining, all part of the charm that makes this entire area quite enticing with lots to do and see.

Meanwhile back on the southern side, approximately 15 - 20 walking further east will see you at the north eastern most point known as Point Cartwright Lighthouse, which is also accessible by car, and a 5 minute walk.

I wouldn't consider this area to be ideal for swimming as there are often quite a lot of boats back and forth crossing the bar...

Parks for the people. Well done, Sunshine Coast Council and (staff). This slice of the Sunshine Coast is so special. With the perfect backdrop being the marina and gateway to it, La Balsa Park offers a truly unique park experience. A variety of aquatic craft, coming and going, made our walk a little slower, stopping often to take in the views. Parking ✔️ Pathways ✔️ Playgrounds ✔️ Toilets ✔️ BBQ's ✔️ Undercover spots ✔️ Seating ✔️ Manicured lawns ✔️ Plenty of shady areas and a Gym✔️ Access areas to swim or fish ✔️ The pooches on leash, hubby and I, just love it. La Balsa Park is extremely popular and very busy in school holidays,...

La Balsa Park in Kawana is a pretty awesome place for a chill day. I mean, who doesn't love a good walk and picnic, right? The walk to the lighthouse is a must-do. The view of all those boats in the marina is pure eye candy. It's like a mini adventure right in your backyard. The park itself is super green and relaxing. I plopped down for a picnic, munched on some snacks, and felt the stress melt away. Nature therapy at its finest. But here's the kicker: The view from the lighthouse is chef's kiss! Especially when the sun's doing its thing. Boats, water, and all that jazz – it's Insta-worthy for sure.
