Would give negative score if I could - Poor service quality, bad manner the crew showed, and irresponsible act which threatened the customer safety!
3 days before the sailing date, we noticed that the Bureau of Meteorology had published Severe Weather Warning for damaging surf, heavy rainfall and damaging wind in the Sydney coast area. Out of concern, we seek advice from Deep Blue Charters several times about whether it's safe to operate under such weather conditions. Deep Blue Charters convinced us, that they can operate and offer the same level of service as normal.
However, once we sailed to the open water, the extreme weather made everyone hardly stand, with no mention of fishing. The crew didn't provide any life jackets or necceary aid or help for us in the pouring rain and high swell, which was very disappointed. We had no choice but to come back without ever touching the fishing rod.
Deep Blue Charter stated:" Customer Service and safety is prime importance to us therefore charters will only operate under safe and acceptable weather conditions. Bad weather is inclusive of few factors, and by no means restricted to high SWELL and WIND." However, what we experienced today went totally against this policy.
Before and during the trip, Deep Blue Charter and the crew could have warned us of the risks, or even had the trip cancelled or postponed. Even after we showed strong concerns about the weather conditions, Deep Blue Charter failed to take any actions to avoid this situation and took risk of customer safety. Deep Blue Charter should have known that "Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage", advised by NSW Police Force, Marine...
Read moreWe were taken out past Sydney Harbour for deep sea fishing. We would not recommend this trip for novice fisherman or for those who expect a well-organised set-up.
When we boarded the ship at 5:30 at Balmain, nobody welcomed us on the ship or explained any safety features of the vessel. There were no crew on board the vessel to help load it so passengers moved heavy supplies on board, which were passed to them by crew on a small boat.
We were given a short safety briefing upon arrival at Rose Bay and a brief explanation of how to use the fishing rods. The explanation wasn't clear. We were told that the life jackets were stored in a cabin below deck, but when I did a visual check below, I did not see any life jackets.
There didn't seem to be any crew members except the captain who would steer the vessel and then rush around the vessel to help people unhook their fish and clean and gut the fish.
During the voyage, one of the passengers caught a baby shark. Nobody knew what kind of shark it was or if it was a threatened species that was prohibited catch. The shark was killed with a knife on deck. It took a while to die and flopped all over the deck. Blood splattered everywhere. While I understand that the point of fishing is to catch the biggest fish you can, a baby shark should have been released and any shark should be properly identified before being killed.
On the positive side, the boat is well set up for fishing. Professional fishing gear was provided and the captain did well to take us to several fishing spots of...
Read moreAvoid this business if you could by all means. The business owner was rude and so arrogant. The instructions that been given of the collection point was unclear as the wharf was shared by several different businesses and several boats were at the point same time . Therefore we lined up in wrong line and no one called out the customer’s name or tried to contact us. And after we saw one of the ship departed (which was exactly the one we supposed to be onboard but we were unsure) and started to worry and called the business owner he said they already left. We tried to explain the situation but he got upset as we were trying to point out where they could do better to prevent this unpleasant experience from happening, hanged off the phone and refused to do any remedy. I did talked to several similar businesses as comparison, they all told me they would never leave the wharf without confirming everyone is onboard or without contacting the customer if they are not to see where they are. Tried to contact the business many times for a solution at least partial refund or rearrange part of the service or voucher or anything. He just tried to push all responsibility to the customer and refused to commit their service has any flaw. And even lied to the office of Fair Trading saying the captain called customer’s name which wasn’t the case as they know it is hard to approve. Would give a negative review if I can and will seek further assistance from NCAT if I get...
