I have been visiting Rozelle markets for many, many years. It doesn't have the sparkle it used to have. More recently there are far too many clothing stalls. I still love visiting the clothing stalls that have been there with high quality offerings for years, but there seems to be a proliferation of sellers with too much ordinary rubbish clothing now. Why it's now called a Collectors Market is a misnomer, as there are less and less interesting Bric a brac stalls there now and bookstalls selling quite ordinary secondhand books for $10-25 each! I know several men who loved to go for a trawl through Rozelle markets every week, now are not interested as too many clothing stalls. It's still good to visit now and again but there are less surprises these days. I hope they don't allow "new" goods and "gifts" to be sold there - that leads to no surprise value at all and the end of a good market vibe. (Look what happened to Balmain markets). Bring back the "sparkle". The joy...

There were hardly any people, no vibe and lots of gaps where there used to be many small stalls. Also unique offerings like the Jyotish healer gone as well.
Even the name is wrong, this is not a "collectors" market, it was just a great second hand market for clothes, bric a brac with many locals selling their belongings - Looks like it is on its way to just being a boring set of commercial dealers offering unwanted junk at high prices. How Very Sad as will have a major impact...

The market itself is on school grounds and has a mix of second hand clothes, costume jewellery, handbags, toys, books/cds/dvds, plants and random interesting homewares and decor. There's a handful of food and coffee stalls also. I've noticed that there are a lot more clothes stalls in the past few months. There's a small play area for children and there's usually live music so the atmosphere is pretty good and it's never...
