I posted the below review in the mistaken belief that the seafood outlet co-located with Harris Farm Manly was actually owned by Harris Farm.
It isn't. The experience I had refers to the seafood outlet and specifically to the manager. The facts I have outlined are the same.
Well, Harris Manly you certainly made my experience yesterday one to remember. I went went there to pick up some fresh fruit and veg (spending around $90), Going in I saw a very prominent billboard at eye level right outside the seafood section advertising redfish fillets at a really good price. Put my other fruit and veg in the car and went back to the seafood section to buy some of that fish. I saw the price on the display was over 3 times as much as the price advertised outside, queried it and was told no, that's the price for the whole kingfish. I was pretty sure of what I'd seen, but said my bad, sorry, paid and went out to check. I hadn't been wrong so went back in and told them. The counter staff referred me to the manager, Johnny Neil who insisted I was wrong so I asked him to come out and have a look even though he said the sign must have been wrong. He told me to calm down - what's to calm down about I thought to myself, as far as I was concerned this was just a normal customer service interaction. He saw the sign, said it was wrong and proceeded to cover it over with paper. We had a conversation regarding being charged the advertised price, and he said Coles and Woollies might do that but he doesn't. I explained about store policy vs consumer law but he was having none of it. Again I pointed out that consumer law always overrided store policy, and at this point he told me to fk off. Now I don't have a problem with the f bomb but it's really not what I need to hear from a retail worker who is supposed to be giving customer service. I asked him what he'd said and he told me to go to hell and stop screaming (I wasn't). At this stage he did say he'd refund me the money but by then I was very sick of being bullied and abused and just wanted to get away. The irony is it would have cost him $4 tops to keep the customer happy but instead he chose to be a nasty, abusive bully. Why this person is employed in a customer facing role I do not know. I asked him to show his face for the photo but he wouldn't. Regardless, I think he is very identifiable even from the back. Very disappointing. I've been a Harris customer for over 30 years. Don't think I'll...
Read morePreviously a Harris Farm customer for years & years until I moved north. Came back to Manly & excited by the prospect of shopping on a regular basis w/ my local grocer Harris Farm Mkts Manly. WoW! What a disappointment all round. From pricing to availability of products to customer service, etc.... I understand we're living in times when consistency is tricky for businesses to deliver. However, again & again ( I was hoping it was just a bad day at HFM Manly bad week perhaps a bad month???) waiting waiting in long lines as just one of many examples - disappointing. Who is running that store??? Being a retail & online business person myself - looking in from the sidelines as an obvious unappreciated HFM Manly customer - it's clear there is mismanagement from the top & they've lost their edge. No connection with staff who have to suffer through on the floor but most importantly no connection with their customer. BUT - does it matter??? HFM Manly has a growing starving market so they'll stay buoyant & not rectify the shortcomings. It's a pity because they could be a star employer for others to emulate & give an exceptional customer experience. I can testify that no one at HFM Manly Management cares...
Read moreWhile the fruit and veg are good quality which is why I go there, where Harris Farm Manly let themselves down is in their customer service (non existence). They come across like robots doing a job they don’t really enjoy. I went last night, there was a big sign eggs $7.99 (600g) however I was charged $10.99. They apparently had the wrong sign on the eggs but how was I to know when the eggs I bought and on the sign were for 600g eggs. The salmon had the wrong sign on it too. Above the 400g salmon sign (in small print without my glasses) was 500g salmon so I picked it up automatically thinking the sign matched the above product. And I was over charged for the grapes. While they did refund me for grapes (overcharge) and I returned eggs and salmon because I thought I was paying one amount and charged another. Care factor zero that their ticket price didn’t match the item. So look at your docket because the prices for items are misleading. I note other people in the reviews have mentioned this too. This is the first time I’ve checked my docket, however other times I’ve shopped here I’ve often been surprised at how much my groceries have come to. This could be the reason why. In future I’ll be...
