Beautiful scenery, once the norm now the bushland is becoming a novelty, very nice spot but no life guards on duty, so boating, canoeing and swimming is at your own risk. Bushwalking on the tracks can be dangerous unless you have training on what to do if you see poisonous snakes, spiders and nesting magpies likewise with bike riding. No bushwalking guides available. No first aid available on site unless you call first responders who may have difficulty in accessing the terrain of the area. Goannas, kangaroos and other native wildlife once occupied this area. The square footage of which can not sustain them without ranger intervention and conservation planning. Perhaps they can be reintroduced into the area under the care of a park ranger. There is a sensory park. Where you can also play chess, a swing for disable chair use, amazing quirky rock sculptures, and multiple bbq and shaded seating areas. Plenty OF PARKING. There is a cafe, clean public toilets and a very busy gardener. You might think there would be waterskiing, but except for a boat launching jetty there is no visible evidence of it. Fishing is not allowed. A rethink of management and priorities is badly needed and overdue. Multiple well kept lawn areas for ball games etc. It is not all doom and gloom. Best to approach any outdoor activities forewarned and prepared. There are no do overs so get it right or suffer the consequences. Common sense may be your best rule of thumb but nothing here has guarantees or insurance. Play at your own risk and realise your conscience as you understand the deficiencies which effect conservation and safety. If you like...
Read moreThe good thing about this swimming hole is that you can cool off and swim in it. Other than that, it's pretty subpar and disquieting.
First of all, the swimming area is way too narrow. Everyone would be like 1 meter from you. It can get pushy and uncomfortable. They should cut off some trees and make its 'beach' larger.
Second, there is no sand. You'll be walking on slippery and dangerously slimy rocks that will make you fall and break a bone as you dip in the water (ouch).
Thirdly, the water is deceptive and inconsistent - Just one move and its gets really deep, even though it's pretty shallow if you go, say, to your left. Pretty annoying.
But the most aggravating thing about this place was you get there. It looks like it's situated on a highway. But it is not. You have to go through little roads to reach this place. It's irritating and confusing.
Forget this place. If you want swimming holes, try Bents Basin in near Wallacia. It's far more superior (due to its big size and sandy beach) and it is safer (safety...
Read moreIt is an amazing sanctuary among the busy suburbs of north parramatta. A great spot to bring friends and family of all ages for lots of different activities such as swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, bushwalking, picnicking, fishing and boating. Facilities at the lake include a public toilet/ change room, BBQs Picnic tables, roped off swimming areas, boats for hire, a cafe, lifeguards, bush-walks, a free carpark, play equipment, a wheelchair swing just to name a few things. The atmosphere is great and everyone can find something they enjoy here. There is no shortage of wildlife such as goannas, bush turkey, water dragons and lots of fish. The place can get a bit crowded on public holidays or sunny days and it can be a bit hard to find parking but that comes with any place that is similar.
Overall, this is a place that will be on my list for a day out no matter my age or location and is a spot you must visit. I’m sure you will not be disappointed by the experiences...
