A Phoenician Journey: Olive and Oregano Bakehouse Delivers Authentic Lebanese Excellence
★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
Tucked away in North Parramatta, Olive and Oregano Bakehouse is nothing short of a culinary revelation – and I'm almost embarrassed to admit I've been walking past this hidden gem for three years without knowing what I was missing. Located practically around the corner from where I live, this unassuming bakehouse has been quietly perfecting their craft while I remained completely oblivious to the treasure trove of flavours waiting just steps from my door.
This isn't just another Middle Eastern eatery – it's a passport to Lebanon, where ancient Phoenician culinary traditions have been lovingly preserved and masterfully executed.
The Food: Authentic Flavors That Transport From the moment your first bite touches your lips, you're transported across continents. The kitchen at Olive and Oregano has clearly mastered the delicate art of Lebanese cuisine, with flavours so authentic they could have been crafted by the Phoenicians themselves. Each dish tells a story of tradition, with spice blends that dance on your palate and ingredients that speak of sun-soaked Mediterranean coastlines.
The artisanal baking prowess shines through in every item, from their buttery plain croissants with their perfect laminated layers to the indulgent almond croissants that strike the ideal balance between sweet filling and flaky pastry. Each croissant emerges golden and architectural, a testament to their mastery of French patisserie techniques.
Their pizza offerings deserve special mention - the Meat and Cheese pizza delivers hearty satisfaction with perfectly seasoned proteins melding beautifully with their house cheese blend. The Cheese and Garlic pizza transforms simple ingredients into something sublime, with roasted garlic adding aromatic depth to the creamy cheese base. But it's the Oregano and Feta pizza that truly showcases their Lebanese heritage - the herbaceous oregano paired with tangy feta creates a flavour profile that's both familiar and revelatory, embodying the Mediterranean spirit in every bite.
And then there's the coffee - exceptional doesn't begin to cover it. Whether you're savouring a perfectly extracted espresso or indulging in how you like your coffee fix, each cup is crafted with the same attention to detail that defines everything else here. The rich, aromatic brews provide the perfect punctuation to any meal, with beans that sing of quality and preparation that honours both tradition and craft.
Atmosphere: Warmth Meets Authenticity Step inside and you're immediately embraced by an atmosphere that perfectly complements the cuisine. The space strikes that rare balance between comfortable and sophisticated, creating an environment where lengthy conversations flow as smoothly as their perfectly brewed Lebanese coffee. There's an unmistakable warmth here – the kind that makes solo diners feel welcomed and turns casual meals into memorable experiences.
Service: Where Hospitality Becomes an Art Form What truly elevates Olive and Oregano from great to exceptional is their unwavering commitment to customer-centric service. The staff don't just serve food; they curate experiences. They're knowledgeable guides through the menu, passionate advocates for their cuisine, and attentive hosts who anticipate needs before they're expressed. This is Lebanese hospitality at its finest – genuine, generous, and guaranteed to make you feel like family.
The Verdict Olive and Oregano Bakehouse isn't just serving food; they're preserving and celebrating a rich culinary heritage with every plate. In a dining landscape often dominated by fusion and trends, this North Parramatta gem stands as a testament to the power of authenticity. When exceptional food meets impeccable service in an atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace, magic happens.

Read moreSo I ordered uber eats and they got my drinks wrong hense the review. Not fussed about the drinks just the way it was handled.
I ordered 2 Coke no sugars they gave me two cokes. I can’t drink Coke because it’s high sugar content. Not sure how this happens when I only ordered 3 different things but ok. Called the store and told them and he actually said for me to drive to the store to replace drinks ? The whole purpose of uber eats was because I’m at work on a tight schedule. Such a silly response. But hey now it’s my problem. I asked for them to deliver me some of the right drinks and swap them as I’m not working too far and I couldn’t leave my site. He said they couldn’t. So in the end they stuff your order and then it’s my problem. I ended up having to order uber eats again just for drinks and pay extra delivery because this place couldn’t get a simple order right. This stuff needs to be sharpened up.
As for the food … The meat pizza is very over priced for the size you get. I get bigger better ones for cheaper closer to my house at banksia bakery. It was very doughy in some Parts and under cooked and could have done with a bit more cooking. Also a little more topping as there was gaps every where. Now considering my very average experience i have to be honest and say there was a good thing that came out of this and that was the kafta wrap. Now that was faultless. And I have to say probably the best I’ve had in a long time. Felt like I was at my aunties house eating it home...
Read moreBeen coming here for a while as it’s my local and food is good. I’m currently boycotting uber due to exorbitant fees and margins so have been picking food up. I’m writing this as feedback for the owner. Today I picked up 3 very simple pizzas and a drink and was charged $34. When I called back after picking up and questioned why my bill was so high given I ordered 1 oregano, 1 kaak and 1 cheese and egg. I was advised they charge 10% surcharge on a weekend and they decided to whack whatever charge they felt like for the cheese and egg ($13.20 - higher than uber prices and any other Lebanese pizza on their menu). For a PICK UP order, charging your customers a surcharge is theft, especially given the current economy. Yes, understand overheads are higher on a weekend so I would accept this as a dine in customer. Not for pick up. My family and I won’t be returning...
