The Manly Art Museum is a charming gallery with a peaceful atmosphere and a thoughtfully curated selection of exhibitions. The staff are generally friendly, and the space is a nice cultural stop in Manly. Since my parents just bought a house nearby, I’ve been exploring the area to get to know the surroundings, and the museum seemed like a great place to start. That said, my experience was slightly mixed. As a 25-year-old Chinese visitor carrying a backpack, I was asked to leave my bag at reception due to concerns it might inadvertently damage the galleries. While I understand the reasoning and the importance of protecting artworks, the way it was handled felt a little uncomfortable and carried a subtle undertone of bias as most other visitors are white elderly people, i guess the receptionist may find Asian less "reliable" 😆 I chose not to make an issue of it—especially since the receptionist was elderly and likely just following protocol—but it did leave me wishing for a bit more sensitivity. Still, the exhibitions themselves are enjoyable, and I’ll likely introduce this great place to other friends.

It is a wonderful place for anyone who love art and history. The permanent exhibits quite good place to spend sometime if you are bored around manly beach. Clean, well maintained, air conditioned and spacious. It has ceramics from different parts of the world, including European, Asian and aboriginal works. Next to that, it’s very well organized. The entry is free, however you need to pay if you wish to visit an additional exposition. The outdoor ocean view is fantastic.

The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is a unique and treasured gem on the beautiful Northern Beaches. It always has interesting, beautifully mounted and curated exhibitions thanks to its highly professional and dedicated staff and loyal volunteers. It's location and the views of the Harbour beach and ferry wharf are unbeatable. In addition to temporary exhibitions MAGM boasts a permanent collection of art and objects relating to the district that are fascinating culturally.

A visit is highly recommended, preferably by coming in a ferry to Manly and strolling under the pines to this free and amazing little...
