Was invited by accor club to stay here at a moderate discount rate in exchange for me spending 90 min listening to a sales presentation. What a big mistake!!! First, we were taken to the south tower and had to walk throgh garbage bins area to get to my room. Then room was dated and dirty with old furniture and lots of dust on carpet and even walls. It felf like if room was not used for long time. Quite depressing. We have 2 children and wanted to use their swiming pool. They have two very small pools and they always look full with only 4 people in them. Also be careful as I found a big brown spider in a spare mattress as I was about to go to sleep. We were able to kill it but I was not able to sleep well those couple of nights and was always afraid there were more. However, I thought that my stay could not get any worse until I attended the sales presentation and then I understood that my short break had just become a nightmare!!! After staying for the 90 minutes presentation the sales man, who initially was very welcoming, became pushy after we informed him that we were not going to buy their $30000 vacation package. He wanted us to buy it inmmediatlely and commit to pay $1000 per year until 2080 as a admin fee!!! We wanted to have a closer look at the numbers but he wanted us buying inmmediately. We insisted that there was no way we were going to do this and so he became disrespectful making us wait a number of times because apparently we had to wait for someone to sign us out but instead of doing so he would always comeback with an incentive for us to buy. We eventually decided to stand up and just leave and so we did but he still kept trying to introduce us to more people who were also going to try to push us into buying. We made clear we were leaving and had enough and so they became more agressive and took us to the lift in a way to make us feel they were actually making us go and while waiting for the lift one of them just stood there looking at us in a very aggresive way! This, after all, was their last sales tactic to get us to feel so uncomfortable and intimidated that we would buy. Well...it did not work!!! After leaving we had a look at all reviews about the accor vacation club they were selling and found so many people complaining about thir sales tactics and about the dodgy product they sell. Apparently they keep selling these club memberships even though many people online complain they can never book accomodation as there are not enough allocated rooms for the number of members. Not even trying to book a year ahead but the club still keep expecting people to pay $1000 per month until 2080. Also people found that rooms allocated are usually the worst in hotels and that on top all the money paid they still have to pay extra for room cleanning etc. They also regret buying because you can still book better rooms with cleaning service included at at very low price booking throgh online specials this without having to book a year a head....but then again being able to book is apparently very rare. If u want to visit manly you can still stay here but u need to pay full price with water view to make sure u stay in north tower of hotel....or just stay in sydney and take the ferry. Hotel is overrated only positive...

To the Sebel Manly,

My family and I checked in at the hotel yesterday evening 3:30pm to room 405 which was an upgraded room from the original room due to the plumbing problem. The moment we stepped in the room, we immediately heard the pipe noises from the kitchen sink. We thought it will not last for long, but it wasn't. By 8pm, I couldn't stand the irritated noise while watching TV. I called the reception and spoke to John, he came up to the room and acknowledged the noise. He said he will call the maintenance team to work on it. A while later, he called back to follow-up on the noise. I told him the noise has stopped. By 10pm, the noise came back while we were sleeping. No one could able to sleep. We hang on in bed until 11pm. I couldn't stand any longer. Rang room service, then reception no one picked up the phone. Went all the way in my pajama down to the front desk, no body there. Went back up to the room, called the after hours number and also tried the extension number 9. No one was there! We ended up turned up the AC fan to maximum to over the sink noise but it didn't help. We lay in bed in the freezing AC and tried our best to get some sleep. No one could able to go to sleep. A adultd and 2 young children. By 6am, I had to turn off the AC as we were so freaking cold. The AC off after 15mins, the noise from the sink also stopped but no one could be able to sleep. I paid $430 for a family room and we got the bloody noise the whole time. Your reception team knew about it but couldn't do anything to compensate or get us another room. I am very disappointed with your service and your accommodation. Paid a high price to get rubbish for what we paid...

My sister booked the Sebel Sydney Manly a few months ago as an Accor member using her free night as a member for herself and husband and booking another room for my husband and me at a discounted rate (around $40 less). My sister had arranged a special night out in Sydney. We were the first to arrive and I explained to the reception staff member that my sister was the Accor member and would be paying the bill because I had already transferred the money for my room to her. However, I noted that I would need to pay for parking. The reception staff member took an imprint of my credit card, which is standard when booking into a hotel. In the morning my sister went down to reception and spoke to the same receptionist as I had spoken to the previous afternoon, she explained that she was seeing her husband off as he needed to go early but would be back to pay the bill. This was at around 10:20, checkout is 11:00. When my sister returned to reception at around 10:40 my credit card had already been charged, we were still in our room and had not checked out. When my sister asked why my credit card had been charged when she said she would return, the receptionist said it was because they didn’t have another credit card on file. The imputation of dishonesty was overt, deeply offensive and hurtful. Clearly, reception staff need to be better trained than they are. For my own part, I don’t think I would ever stay in an Accor hotel again. This unpleasantness took the shine off a fun night my sister had...

The pluses: My room overlooked the beach front. A delightful view of the rising Sun from the balcony or thru the glass doors. The rolling waves hitting the shore line was certainly a most relaxing sound. My Room was very well appointed, comfortable bed, tastefully appointed surrounding furniture. Room contained Refrigerator, microwave & dishwasher. The minuses: Entrance into the building not adequately appointed. No ramp to take anyone with a disability. The rickety & too small Hi Lift which one needed to self operate whilst attempting to secure a suitcase, handbag, coat cover & push buttons out in the elements was absolutely NOT acceptable..as was carting ones items into a lift, securing all the above whilst using ones key card to activate the lift 2 the required floor.. Upon returning to the room much later after a Wedding, I was subjected to an uber loud band playing in the Venue beneath my room accompanied by loud laughter & conversations. This absolutely destroyed the tranquil ambience. Other that the above, I would perhaps stay there again providing I took on a Room in a quieter part of the HOTEL. I was thinking cost wise per nite for one person, way too much. A place one really needs to visit to make their own decision when the facility comes available

Updated at end of visit: I would not stay here again. The room itself was sad looking. A single pillow for each person, an outdated couch, blah colored rugs and walls and drapes, and an uninspired bathroom. No view of the ocean, in fact we had to keep our curtains closed because it looks over into the neighbors houses. A bunch of little details were lacking too. The safe was broken and it took multiple calls to get it fixed. Housekeeping forgot to finish making the bed one day and just left the pillows on the floor. The duvet was thin and cheap feeling. The TV is mounted in a way that’s useless from the bed. For the more than $300 a night we paid, I’d expect a lot more —- Just checked in last night and pretty sure this a bait and switch? They have us staying in the south tower which is a totally separate building that you have to walk through the back of a restaurant and then through a sketchy back alley to get to. There’s no front desk or lobby, it’s just a really random run down building. Wouldn’t recommend staying here unless they put you in the main building. Maybe call when booking and ask for that?

There's only one room which is promoted as Wheelchair Accessible. It is not. I would class it Wheelchair Assist (you would struggle to be an independent guest). Plenty of room in the main living/sleeping area, granted. Forget about using the lovely patio as there's no ramp either side of the considerable door frame on the sliding door. The bathroom isn't a Australian Standard accepted as there's a vanity that seriously restricts access. As this establishment consists of a few accommodation towers only the main tower has a wheelchair parking space but again isn't to the Australian Standard. In an ideal world some rooms in the East (beach) and newer refurbished facing front tower should have been wheelchair accessible. There's also a lovely outdoor pool but inexplicably it's not accessible in any way, shape or form.
