My husband surprised me with a weekend away at the Q station and a Ghost tour on the 27-29/06/2025 . This is our second time at Q station, the first being for our wedding, 10 years ago. We had a fantastic time. I had been wanting to return to do a Ghost tour, but was never brave enough to book it myself. My husband is a skeptic and booked it without any trepidation, but there were a couple of experiences he had that he could not understand.
Prior to doing the tour I asked staff if they had had any experiences, some did , others didn't. Either way we were ready to do the tour. Yes I was absolutely terrified.
Our tour guide was Brandon aka Snowy, with respect to his knowledge on the history of Q station, he is an absolute wealth of information. He is a great story teller and created a great atmosphere with each story he told. When I say story, these were of his personal experiences and events that occurred in the history of Q station.
I was privileged to be handed an EMF meter, which was both scary and exciting when it lit up, this happened a few times throughout the night and added to the whole experience.
In certain rooms I felt as though we were imposing and not welcome. The most frightful for myself was in on of the rooms, where I sat on one of the beds and felt as though something breathed on my face followed with a push on my arm. of course I immediately left the area. I had a sense of unease and not safe from the minute we stepped into the place.
As an avid fan of horror and all things supernatural, Snowy and the Ghost tour did not disappoint! The gas lanterns that lit our path, the EMF meters and of course the experiences made the whole tour incredibly spooky. I would like to give more information about each room but that would take away from the experience and leave you with an expectation of having the same experience. Everyone is different, and as Snowy told us, your conscious mind takes over the subconscious mind in order to make ourselves feels safe. There were a few others in our group who felt things at different times of the tour including my husband the skeptic, who could not bring himself to entering one of the spaces.
So, if you are looking for something different to do, do this tour, I urge you to go during the day and do a day tour, the events that took place in the Q station were horrific. It is such a beautiful peaceful place to visit with such a grim past. It certainly has a vibe about it, even during the daytime.
I will certainly be returning, I am aiming to take friends and family to do a private group tour.
With regards to Q station itself. It is a spectacular place, with incredible views. The grounds are immaculate and each accommodation is different. In our previous stay there were a couple of unexplainable events that occurred when I arrived with my bridesmaids on the night before the wedding, where my car which was filled with everything I needed for the wedding day, stopped and would not restart and an inexpensive ornate personal item of mine had disappeared on the day of our wedding. When we were picked up by our hire car to take us to the wedding venue, the manager had come into our cottage to assist and asked if I needed any help, when I told her of the item I had lost, she explained that perhaps one of the children took it. I asked my young nieces who were with us during the day if they touched the item but they promised that they never even saw it. I never found the item and the car decided to restart without any issue when we checked out. I will never know what and why these things happened, but I perhaps the children were a little cheeky on...
Read moreOur Cabin number 74 at Q Station was great. Clean, spacious and comfy sleeping 6. "4 out of 5" stars for the Cabin and the whole Quarantine Station venue itself. (Except for the Buffet breakfast. It was mostly revolting barely edible food stuffs. 1 star.) There were 5 of us in our family...2 adults 3 teenagers for 1 night only to experience the "spooky" Ghost Tour. The Ghost Tour was 1 of the funniest things we have ever experienced. Try and put up with the Actor....I mean Guide/s perpetual waffle waffle waffle repetitive and make believe well scripted stories and treat it all as just plain simple fictional classic Aussie fun. The electronic EMF ghost sensing props thingies...sorry... toys they hand out to a few usual suspects were a joy to watch when they lit up to a red colour everytime some woooooooooo " Paranormal" activity was sensed on the walk around in those small dark...very dark tightly packed evil venues of death and torture. Pure delight from just a small piece of junk kids toys. Nothing happened in the "Ghostly Spooky" sense on our Tour ( hang on...my wife did disappear...thats right...like she just passed through walls for 5 mins. But it was only a quick well planned toilet stop. Phewwww.) even though the Actor...ahhhhh Guide tried his hardest to arouse all the spooks in the area. But they must of been on a tea break or between shifts. So zero activity for us on that cold winters dark, seedy, frosty, rainy night with murky sputum floaties morgue juice ridden deep, very deep puddles to dodge surrounded by alarming ocean sounds drifting on the howling evil breeze quickly and forcefully up our frost bitten pocked noses...I digress. No activity I say... but apparently thats to be expected. Well...thats what we expected. Just go with the flow and have a laugh. Its a fictional well rehearsed boringly scripted performance at times with nice tid bits of Quarantine History. The Ghost Tour is simply an imaginitive way of bringing in some extra revenue to keep Q Station afloat. There is no Paranormal activity there. Trust me. Believe me. The Actors...sorry...Guides have to believe what they are saying so the Ghost Hunters/ Punters can also trick themselves into believing the unbelievable. Can you believe it? Our biggest laugh was the next day when we were leaving in the shuttle "random" bus to go to Reception when the Ghost driver could sense our scepticism and all of a sudden blurted out the words..." I saw a ghost over there once"! Obviously new at the Role. We all just lowered our heads in a gentle shake and smurked. They are all in it together and thats just great. An Ensemble. A tight knit bunch keeping their jobs "alive". Or should that be "dead" ??? Leave that little thought with you. Who ya gunna...
Read moreI heard about the Q Station Ghost Tours through a former colleague and Q Station’s website and was very curious about this.
I thought it would be a matter of turning up and hearing ghost stories at night.
FAR FROM IT!!!
There is something so creepy about Q Station after sundown despite the beautiful views of the cityscape and being right by the water.
My husband and I did the 8:30pm ghost tour on a Sunday night during the Labour Day long weekend with a tour guide called Simon.
Simon was very theatrical, extremely well-spoken and had a real air about him.
He knew how to handle 2 x difficult people on his tour who weren’t the most cooperative and were slight sceptics. One of them kept making loud noises and would scare people by springing up on them.
Simon told us about his previous personal experiences whilst conducting the tours and also what happened to the people on his tours in relation to the various spirits that occupy the Q Station. People have been scratched, vomited or seen or felt ghosts & etc. Whether you believe it or not was subjective but it was convincing.
It was great being able to hold an EMF metre as part of this tour because it lit up alarmingly when we entered the Gravediggers’ Cottage. This was by far the SCARIEST part of the entire tour! One of the women in our group felt unwell and was bent over and said she felt as though the back of her neck was scratched. We were told by Simon that people have been scratched by spirits in the past while being in this cottage due to what took place here in the past. I personally felt like there was a suffocating vibe being in the cottage. My heart was racing and I had a strange pressure-like headache.
Luckily there wasn’t anything major to show for the woman who felt the scratches but a few of us witnessed cupboard doors opening and closing on their own and also springing open when someone closed it! It was so scary and unsettling that it turned one of the difficult participants into someone who no longer kicked up trouble for everyone during the remainder of the tour!
It was such a great eye-opening experience of visiting somewhere that is haunted and being told the history of the place and what happened to the people that came here.
This tour is NOT for the faint-hearted as you never know what the spirits might do and what may take place when you go.
What you might experience and feel will also likely differ on every tour as well.
You have...
