Very disappointing experience. We held our child’s christening in the Bayview room and the first meeting we had was great, hospitable staff and friendly. Package was expensive but the view, menu and room seemed like it would be worth it. Boy was I wrong. Our second meeting was supposed to be with the event planner but when we showed up nobody was aware of our appointment as she was off sick, fine but we were there to mock up the table settings. After lots of eye rolling, throwing their colleague under the bus and unfriendliness from the staff we managed to get that sorted out. Come the day of the event, we arrive with our guests, first I notice my welcome sign that I had sent to be used on the digital screen (and told it would be used) was not used, half the vendors hadn’t shown up so we’re scrambling looking for staff to find out what’s going on. Nobody knows. “Oh we will call them” Shouldn’t this have been attended to before the event not when we arrive? Finally sorted after 45 mins. Then food begins to arrive to the tables. Souvakia in entree were cold. Steak in main was cold, chicken in main was cold. The cake was 2 flavours and instructions were for both flavours to be served to each table. Didn’t happen. I had to get the platters picked up and fixed to have both flavours on them. Service was terrible. We asked for another bread roll and were told we have none. Excuse me? I had 13 people not show up (due to illness) so there should be at least be 13 if not more! Several guests were told the same thing. One of my guests requested chicken instead of steak, again told none left. Impossible. Cutlery being replaced was gold, we were using silver! Vegan meals were very poor. The embarrassment of having guests actually complain at your event when you’re paying top dollar is actually appalling. Bartender was miserable and it showed. They make you fill out all these forms multiple times with all your requests and instructions and timings so everything is followed to a T and then they don’t even look at it. I had the staff coming to me asking everything I’ve already told them. Do they not have a run sheet? Read moreThe team were amazing from the start. Very helpful and accommodating. Particular thanks to Trish who went above and beyond to help me along the way. The room looked beautiful, and we were made to feel very comfortable from the start. The night ran smoothly. We would highly recommend the waterfront function centre for other couples wedding venue choice. It was a beautiful night and we wee truly happy with the service.
There were only a couple of negatives. Unfortunately were were disappointed with the DJ, who was included in our package. Songs that we had specifically requested were not played, and when asked he did not actually know the song requested, and played a different song. He was disorganised and not very accomodating. Also told guests that we had already gotten cranky about song choices and told them the songs couldn't be played, very unprofessional. I would highly recommend that couples source their own DJ or music entertainment particularly if music and dancing is a significant part or your night like it was meant to be for us. Lastly there was an issue with a guest dietary requirement during the night. The catering manager came and told me about it at the bridal table and advised me that it may incur extra costs, This is not something that I wanted to be told during my meal, or the night. This was easily redirected however once the gentleman taking care of us was advised.
All in all we were incredibly happy with the service, assistance and night. All of the team were lovely. It was a truly special night and it was made so much better knowing that no question was silly, and no request was too hard. Read moreGeorgia, Stella and the entire Waterfront function team were absolutely sensational! We literally had the perfect wedding thanks to their massive efforts bringing the day together. Stella was our coordinator on the day and she did a wonderfully amazing job - She provided exceptional service. Stella was kind enough to manage the organisation of all our suppliers so that all the designs, elements etc. came together as we described - The reception came to life and we were astounded how wonderfully put together - like a dream come true (see photo attached of the bridal table and cake layout and design). The entire team were very responsive to my calls and emails and also addressed any concerns I had (wedding planning was new to me). I was very fortunate to have the Waterfront team guide me every step of the way. They were very organised and ensured everything ran as smoothly as possible - and it turned out even better than we ever thought possible. A memorable unforgettable day indeed that my husband and I will remember for the rest of our lives. Thanks God for the weather - Waterfront really offers breathtaking water views with classy yachts in the backdrop, convenient location, and with the added bonus of plenty of hassle free parking for all our wedding guests.
