A natural man made wetland area, made to hold water for steam engines at Valley Heights loco depot but now a picnic spot. Great for older people during the mid week and families on weekends. BBQ facility with a clean modern centrally placed toilet block replacing the original old block on the eastern edge of the picnic area. Ducks for the kids to watch swimming on the lake. Kayaking or canoeing on the lake is good but swimming is not for there are underwater hazards. A serene spot which can be very busy at times. There are no shops nearby to buy food and it's quite a walk to Wentworth Falls village centre. Read moreThe atmosphere is incredible! I was surprised by the serenity, beauty and size of the lake. Definitely good for walking, playground for kids and BBQ area. Although I didn't have my fishing rod, I had the pleasure of helping a fellow traveller catch their first fish of the day there. From what I have heard and witnessed, it is possible to catch redfin perch at this lake, make sure to kill these on the spot and remove from the lake as they are pests. I believe there may be an option to return them, but I would check the relevant laws and legislation. Read moreThis is a beutiful little lake which I would say a hidden gem in Blue Mountains. A perfect place for family picnic and full day out. The drive to this place is also beutiful. Right next to a small town centre, this lake offers stunning views. You can take a walk all along the bank of the lake. It has bench seats, BBQ stations and kids play area.
