Update - I have noticed on a few occasions, people hosting parties and failing to pick up their party hats, streamers, lollies etc. Where is the gratitude for being able to use this free area and respect for others who want to enjoy the beautiful surrounds without seeing rubbish everywhere and dog poo on the paths. I think the council needs to install cameras around the seating areas and issue fines for those too lazy to use a bin. And considering that the majority of rubbish in the park is child related food and drink items, what are these parents teaching their children?
The park itself is beautiful and I recommend going there on a weekday over a weekend (as it can get very busy) if possible. Generally, the other vistors are okay, however there are some bogans. They leave their dog poo on the footpath or close to a bin (but not in the bin). Bogans spitting in the car park, the bogan mothers who think they own the place. My husband got given a dirty look trying to park because the mother couldn’t control her kid. The toilet block is owned by a few feral bogan families who take up the entire public right of way and want you to walk on the grass because they ain’t moving to the side! Read moreIt's okay, good short walking tracks, however there can be lots of discarded rubbish around which is disappointing considering there are birds and wildlife around.
Also allot of invasive weeds aswell.
There needs to be signs explaining what birds eat and what they don't eat so the right food can be given to them should people choose to feed them.
This place can be dangerous at night as it has no lighting only the street lights at the entrances to the lake.
I would recommend coming here with a friend for walking etc during daylight hours and if you are planing on doing it at night in groups is safer...
