Riversleigh Fossil Centre — Attraction in The Gap

Very informative. You get a good idea about what life was like on the excavation site during different periods. However seems to be a bit neglected: Some of the interactive displays don't work anymore, like the iPads. In the second section where landscapes with animal models are recreated the forelegs of the ancient platypus are missing and someone seems to have dumped a huge modern platypus into the diorama without any explanation so that the unknowing visitor might think that there were giant platypusses in...

Really good place to stop at if you're travelling across Queensland's long roads ! I was just stopping by to have a shower as a traveller: they were free for cold water, and $2 for 5 minutes of hot water. 100% worth it to me, as they are incredibly clean and spacious. Warm welcoming from the staff, interesting stuffs to learn about the locals dinosaurs and fossils... If I had to go through this road again, I'll definitely stop...

Allan, our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the local Riversleigh fossils as he is involved with the fossils extraction in the lab. He is also excellent in explaining in simple terms.
