Lorne Beach has two sections - the surf beach and the more sheltered areas. The main beach is a lot like Noosa Beach, in that the cove protects it, and the winds are not as severe as other beaches nearby such as Torquay Surf Beach. The way this area has been developed is perfect for families.
If you like surfing, learners and more experienced surfers will enjoy the right end of the beach when the surf is up [not as rough as Bells Beach]. You can hire boards from the Hah Cafe, found on the edge of the beach, near the amenities. For those who prefer swimming pools, try the Lorne Sea Baths.
In the evenings, it is popular with dog walkers and those wanting to take a stroll. I even witnessed a couple having a romantic dinner on the beach - table, candles etc. - thinking outside the box!
For those who don't want to swim at the beach, you have other options nearby: skate ramps, playgrounds, cafes, ice creamery, ANZAC Memorial and take away shops.
There is a mixture of on-street and set parking on the esplanade and beach.
Lorne Beach is patrolled in certain areas and is a safe place to swim. Hats, insect repellant, water, sunscreen, correct foot attire and clothing are recommended. Perfect any time of year and if you enjoy a walk- left to the Lorne Swing Bridge and right all the way down to the Lorne Pier. [You can also get...
