We ordered Indian Samosas. The food they served me questioned my Indian ethnicity. It was a deconstructed samosa which neither me and my partner could eat it properly. The tamarind chutney along with the mashed potatoes were absolutely so weird in taste and we had to pay $18 for that? Like how on earth!!!!!!!!! The owner should look up on google what actually samosas are, or maybe buy a packet of samosas from Indian store so that people can actually eat them , please donât throw this bad âDECONSTRUCTED SAMOSASâ on people. People who are not Indians if they try this food will never ever try Indian food again in their life. You left me questioning about what actually samosas is- we were so hungry but had to leave after this terrible food with overpriced rubbish. Even Cockatoos wonât eat them đ Its like pinkity drinkity tinkty and fratte mattetay. Toilet was nice.
And I never knew the decoration of Krishna with some weirdly looking paintings of girls? Please make a correct representation of Indian culture or get enlightened from you tube. Get a real indian artist to decorate not A. I.
After reading owners response:-
Well as far as your ethos for â Raas leelaâ is concerned sir/maam I feel sorry for you cause you made your âethosâ in such a way that you have to literally explain it as an excuse for serving â out of the boxâ aka bizarre tasting food Maybe you should start working where you donât have to sit explaining them and saying your â Customer are wrong ââŚ
As far as Gopis are concerned those art didnât depict gopis me being an artist and proud Krishna devotee can confirm! Kudos to the artist for drawing something clearly not gopis cause I never saw gopis wearing dresses similar to the dresses people wear on beach in Hawaii. Oh I get that since its in Lorne you wanted to give Gopis a touch of summer outfits! Good on ya mate!
Well 2024 is seeing some changes in dresses for a mythological and a sacred stories across so many miles!
Really canât expect much from people who thinks â Customers arenât rightâ and secondly to people who rate that $18 Deconstructed Samosa as favourite Honey they need a taste bud replacement immediately!
A few vegan options but not many, doesnât matter as they are horrible and overpriced really $30 for dal aka cheapest food lentils and $18 for samosa that is not even closed- less than minimal effort oh sorry wait âmodern artâ or âculinary artâ sold at premiem for less effort welcoke to raas leela but dont worry you can play monopoly there!
Response from Mr Mc Michael
Raas Leela prides itself on "out of the box cuisine".
This is clearly a lie, as the $5 frozen samosas I reheat "out of the box" taste much better than their $18 "samosa" which is not even closed??? I get folding up pastry is hard but then don't call it a samosa đđ
To be honest I came here for the toilet and felt I had to order something. Turns out there's a reason it...
Read moreI must have eaten at literally hundreds of Indian restaurants across the globe, and I must say that Raas Leela is one of the best.
Be mindful that the food may take time to prepare and served. Be patient! All good things take time. It's not your everyday Indian food, nor it is the food that is served in typical restaurants that keep the curries premade. Curries at Raas Leela are prepared fresh and you note the difference right away.
Chef Jitesh Narang is amazing. He knows his stuff really well. I tried to learn more about every single dish that he prepared: both from the staff, and from the chef himself who was kind enough to visit our table on my request.
Talking about staff, Siddharth is the friendliest. He'll take care of you. Rajat, the owner, is polite and tries to deliver his best for the patrons.
Raas Leela is a fine dining restaurant, and it doesn't surpise me that some find it expensive. It is not.
Now the dishes:
Naan: soft, fluffy, buttery and fresh. Yum! One more please. đ
Goat curry: One of the best I ever tasted. The meat was soft, fresh, cooked well in a curry sauce that was balanced, aromatic with proper spice levels. I'm very selective when it comes to goat curries. This is one dish that I loved ever since I ate it first back at home in India in my childhood. I know what an authentic dish look and taste like. Kudos, Chef!
Eggplant masala: try it, if you haven't think of ordering it.
Missi roti: it is the wholewheat, whole grain bread which is not only very heathy but also very tasty.
Cheesy garlic naan: my son ordered it and we all loved it even though i don't like cheese.
Daal tadka: the presentation, spices, and the lentil prep, all are great.
Honestly, we had an excellent experience at Raas Leela. It is a few hours' drive from home, but we will be visiting them...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a local Indian restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for what would be a delightful culinary journey. One of the standout dishes of the evening was the Karahi Paneer. This dish was a true testament to the rich and vibrant flavors of Indian cuisine. The paneer was perfectly cooked, with a delightful texture that was both soft and slightly chewy. It was generously coated in a spicy, aromatic gravy that was bursting with flavor. The combination of spices used in the dish was expertly balanced, providing just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a harmonious blend of spices, and I found myself savoring every morsel. Accompanying the Karahi Paneer was the Butter Naan, which was simply divine. The naan was freshly baked, with a golden-brown exterior and a soft, pillowy interior. It was brushed with just the right amount of butter, adding a rich, indulgent flavor that complemented the paneer beautifully. I loved how the naan was perfect for scooping up the delicious gravy, making it an essential part of the meal. The service was also commendable. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, which made our choices even easier. Overall, I can confidently say that this restaurant serves some of the best Indian food I have ever had. The Karahi Paneer and Butter Naan were the highlights of the meal, and I can't wait to return to try more dishes. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to explore new flavors, I highly recommend visiting this gem of a restaurant. You won't be disappointed!
Well...
