There were quite a lot of people near the parking areas before lunch. During lunch time, people were more scattered around in the open ground near the river. There were some wildlife birds, esp White Cockatoos flying around looking for food, and some people having fun kayaking too! Great views as from the bridge over to the other side with different paved and unpaved walkways. The flow of people going over the bridge and the walkways were consistent with the mild weather to immerse in the beauty of the natural environments.

A beautiful park throughout all its changes and growth. You can sit down for a coffee, visit the eco-education centre, have a barbecue, read a book from the Little Library, exercise your dogs, kayak, cycle, walk, ride the little bmx course, or even take a tiny train, if you're there on the right day! I can hardly imagine much more to be desired from a riverside park! Oh, and I didn't even mention the soon-to-be upgraded playground, or the diverse wetland birdlife...

Would be 5 stars if it wasn't for irresponsible dog owners, the "he's ok" dog owners whose dogs have no recall. News flash my 2 50 kilo dogs are NOT OK when other dogs are off leash bounding towards them, if they get away, your dog is going to be seriously injured. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOG ON LEASH, Its signposted everywhere and there is even a off leash designated area. It's a nature area for goodness sake!! Otherwise such a lovely walk around

For years I've kayaked up the Canning River from Riverton Canoe Launch. The river runs through about 5km of beautiful bushland, full of birdlife. The Kent Street Weir Park has a cafe at the Weir crossover bridge. In a bushland surround, good parking if you drive (Fern Road turn left, then turn left again on to Kent Street). The Cafe is dog friendly, and is a good source of basic cafe food and coffee. The cafe is a centre for the Park area with people coming from walking around the park, both sides of the Canning River. Running and Walking Clubs regularly use the Park. Also Canoe anf Kayaking launch points for either down stream to Riverton or up river, which is freshwater from the Weir. We as a family have numerous picnics at the Weir Park, BBQ facilities and good toiletts are near the cafe. It is also a turnaround point for the Castledare Miniature Railways every...

Not very good the Cafe it is undercover and outside dining absolutely not ideal to be here when raining or cold. Too many people and very rude they cut infront of me today and was told they did so but neither her or the counter lady gave a dam. Their is also a information room it's very small it's got environmental education stuff about animals and mammals. The old biddies are in a room I presume their safe counter they do not interact with the public if you want to know anything like where toilets they stay sitting behind the counter and tell you you can't even see them. There is a big reserve park walking park not a playground park and the river. That's it boring if you ask me...

Went to the enclosed dog park with a big dog that loves to run. Initial visit the 3 "poo bag" stations had no bags at all, but since then all good. I wasn't sure if they were going to make this a dedicated dog park or not, but it seems it will stay as a dog park which is great! Such a huge area! Maybe they could perhaps separate into big & small dog area's (though this isn't an issue for me) some may even like some agility equipment for the dogs to use? One of the gate's to enter/exit doesn't actually have a latch so be careful here. It is also great having the children's playground right next to the dog area if you have children with you. Overall, great for my dog to...
