Hong Kong Cuisine Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Cannington

If only I can give a 0 star. We came back here to hopefully visit Cosmos again (which is the previous owner/restaurant), they were very good on their service, their menu were great, interior design was great as well. But unfortunately, they closed 2yrs ago? and was replaced by Hong Kong Cuisine. Even though the ownership and restaurant has changed, we still wanted to give it a try. But unfortunately our experience was really bad. It was my parent's anniversary and wanted to have a nice dinner but it went terribly bad.

We came in, they offered water or tea. That's fine. We finished looking through the menu and was ready to order so we put our hands up, no one came (note: we sat near the counter and staff were there). Saw some people going to the counter, so maybe they only take orders from the counter, so I went to the counter to put our orders. That's fine. However, after we put our orders that's when everything went bad.

We waited for 35-40mins. Called the waitress about it and asked when will our order come. She apologised and she told me she doesn't know and that she'll check. I saw another customer (couple, a lady and a guy) as well who arrived probably 3-5mins after we arrived. They are also waiting for their order longer than they thought. We saw that a customer that came super late than both us and the couple (probs 30mins after), they got served first. I observed that the lady also saw it and I heard her complain to her partner about why they got their meals first than them. So she also stood up, went to the counter to complain that they've been waiting for 30mins as well. I saw that couple ordered a wine and have drank a few. They got impatient and was apalled by the service (as much as us), so they said they're cancelling their order and they'll just leave. However, the waitress told them they have to pay for the wine they drank and the lady got furious, she attempted to put the wine from her glass and her partner's glass back to the wine bottle. That's when the waitress told them to just not pay for it. They walked out very furious. And so were we.

We were very hungry and we were about to leave as well when our first order arrived. However, it was wrong. We ordered a spare ribs but a different meal came. They said it's ribs but a different flavour. The picture on their menu also showed an actual ribs (shown on my picture) and they offered to change it back to our original order and so waited for another minutes again. The spare ribs came back on a right flavour but the way it looks is different from the menu. On the menu, the ribs looked grilled, while on the actual it looked fried, just with the honey pepper sauce. Only 2 of our order came right. The other 3 was a disaster. They kept giving us wrong orders. The first one was a fried ribs (supposed to be a fried squid). Especially one instance, we ordered a sweet & sour fish (a whole fish, which you can also see on the second picture). They gave us a fish fillet. And I told them I ordered the sweet & sour fish. And their response was very outrageous! I will quote her response: "When we saw fish on the order, I thought you meant the fish fillet". And she kept insisting that she thought I wanted the fish fillet. And I told them clearly that I said I wanted the sweet & sour, the lady I talk to from the counter even repeated it back to me. So at the end, they offered to change it back to the original order but we have to wait for another 20mins. We said we can't wait any longer than that because we've already waited for 40mins. It was bizarre.

Some of the picture on their menu doesn't match the actual food you are going to get. So just a heads up if anyone looks at their menu and base the picture they see. We mostly rely on what they put on the picture and thinks that's what we're going to get (except if there's no picture, then we'll rely on the written ingredients or what's included on the meal). We'll definitely not come back here anymore. Very bad service. We're asian too (filipinos) but they were only good towards...

This place is the worst place to order any food, I went into the restaurant in person to order my food and I ordered Beef with cashews steam rice and prawn cocktail. To my surprise when I got home to have dinner I open up the packaging and find that they have given me chicken with cashew and prawns breadcrumbed so I called the restaurant and told them their mistake and they kept saying that I order chicken I told them no I did not order chicken I order beef with cashews why would I order chicken when I can’t not stand chicken, but they kept saying that I was wrong, hello I know what I can eat and what I ordered. Well guess what I am having for dinner steamed rice and cashew cause I will not the chicken, but the cashews are stale and rubbery. My family and I loved going to this restaurant but their quality lately has gone down the toilet. Food is awesome, great serving size and quality with very competitive pricing. The only issue is the wait time when it's busy, if you order take away at night time during their busy days, do expect at least 30 minutes for your food. I had waited for about an hour for my take away to be ready last time, it was only one dish from the lunch menu as well. It was ridiculous to make any customers to wait for that long. I've only experienced this twice and it only happens during busy period (mostly weekend nights), or when they're hosting a function with large group of people dining in, I'd be avoid getting take away during those times. Other than that, I'd recommend to give it a go and try it out. Their menu is quite big and it's one of the better Chinese places...
