Steiner Tor is a preserved gate, originally built in the late 15th century but refashioned in the Baroque style in the city of Krems an der Donau, in the Wachau valley of Austria. It is considered the symbol of the city. Until the last third of the 19th century, the city of Krems was surrounded by a wall.

This is a wonderfully preserved city gate of Krems Austria (the other three city gates and the city wall have long since been demolished). The gate was restored in the late 1400's and refashioned in baroque style. Well worth seeing.

This is Krems, which is a beautiful little town on the Danube in Austria. Full of small medieval cobbled back streets, curious houses and churches. There's a medieval gate at the entrance to the town, which has some great little apricot brandy and schnapps shops. People were friendly and we had a beer at a local bar which was good, food...
