Ski School Toni Gruber St. Johann Alpendorf — Attraction in Sankt Johann im Pongau

The staff were very friendly and understanding even when we showed up late on our first day! We took the three day ski lesson package (rentals included - see my review for Snowshop at Alpendorf) which was a fair price. The only problem was that we had to buy the lift ticket separate which was an extra cost. The instructor was really chilled out (22 year old Danish guy) with really good English but struggled a bit with his German. I was however impressed that he gave the lesson in both English and German. We went slow and learned the basics which was really good. I'm already a snowboarder and have ice-skated my whole life so I picked it up quite quickly. However, I feel like the other people in my group would need more lessons to really feel like they have learned to ski. Overall, I would definitely recommend...

We are a group of 4 friends with good skiing experience, but we wanted to sharpen our technique. We booked a two hour ski lesson with Toni Gruber's ski school and were assigned Paul, a veteran ski instructor. Paul was terrific! He immediately spotted the technique errors each of us was making and was able to clearly explain how to fix them. We all felt that he was right on the spot and no mistake escaped his eyes, even though he was skiing ahead of us and never seemed to look back! Over the next few skiing days, we all noticed a significant improvement in our technique, after just a single two-hour lesson with Paul and we are very grateful. Aus persönlicher Erfahrung und einigen Beobachtungen mit eigenen und fremden Kindern, kann ich die Skischule von Toni Gruber nur empfehlen. Während andere zwar auch hilfreich sind, ist die Erfahrung hier so herausragend gut gewesen, dass ich andere Bewertungen, die ich in anderen Bereichen mit fünf Sternen Bewertet habe nochmal im Kopf mit dem Maß an Zufriedenheit verglichen habe, das wir hier erfahren durften. Sowohl Toni, als auch seine Mitarbeiter sind sich selbst aus dem Weg gegangen und haben alle solch eine hervorragende Leistung abgeliefert, dass diese fünf Sterne hier nicht einfach nur wohlverdient sind, sondern von nun an das Maß aller zukünftigen Bewertungen darstellen werden; es wird also nicht einfach sein für andere! Riesigen Dank auch an die Skilehrer meiner Kinder: Lara, Nienke, Mika und den Lehrer vom letzten Tag, dessen Name mir leider entfallen ist (pardon!). Beide Kids sind jetzt weit mehr als nur eine Woche Skitraining besser und waren sehr enttäuscht, dass wir weg mussten.

From personal experience and some observations with my own and others' kids, I can only recommend Toni Gruber's ski school. While other schools are also helpful, the experience here was so exceptional that I had to mentally compare my previous five star reviews with the level of satisfaction that we've experienced here. Toni and all his employees went out of their way and delivered such a stellar performance that the five stars here are not only well earned, they're the measure for all future reviews from now on - and it won't be easy for others to reach! Huge thanks also to the instructors of my kids: Lara, Nienke, Mika and the guy from the last day, whose name I sadly can't remember (sorry!). Both kids now ski far better that they would after just one week of training and were very disappointed to leave home.
