   Read moreIt is the heart of Chittagong. The name Chattogram (in Bangla) comes from Chatteshwari, the residing Goddess of this temple. She is a form of Dakshina Kali. And is worshipped as the Queen of Chittagong.
She resides in a Pancha Ratna temple (an ancient style of Temple architecture of Bengal). There is a beautiful Nritya mandap or Homa Mandap. Puja is done according to the traditional Shakta style with animal sacrifice and Yagna. There is a Kal Bhairav Shiva temple protecting the Goddess every moment.
You can find Vana Durga (the Goddess of Vana or forest) Temple aka Magadheshwari (the goddess of Magadha, the ancient name of the Empire which Bengal was a part of) Temple.
