Chowk Bazar Masjid stands as a sublime testament to spiritual reverence and architectural grandeur in the heart of Old Dhaka's bustling Chowk Bazar. As I stepped into its hallowed precincts, I was immediately struck by the aura of tranquility that enveloped me, transporting me to a realm where time seemed to stand still.

The mosque's majestic facade, adorned with intricate arabesque patterns and delicate calligraphy, serves as a beacon of Islamic artistry and craftsmanship. Its towering minarets reach towards the heavens, echoing the faithful's call to prayer with their solemn grace.

Inside, the sanctuary unfolds like a sacred sanctuary, with rows of intricately carved pillars and a soaring dome that seems to embrace the heavens. The play of light and shadow creates a mesmerizing ambiance, inviting contemplation and reflection.

But it is not just the mosque's physical beauty that leaves a lasting impression. It is the palpable sense of devotion that permeates every corner, as worshippers bow their heads in prayer and seek solace in the presence of the Divine.

As I sat in quiet contemplation, I couldn't help but marvel at the centuries of history and tradition that are enshrined within these walls. Chowk Bazar Masjid is not just a place of worship; it is a living testament to the enduring power of faith and community.

In a world that is constantly changing, it is comforting to know that there are places like Chowk Bazar Masjid where one can find refuge from the chaos of everyday life and connect with something greater than oneself. It is a place where the soul finds peace and the spirit finds renewal—a true gem in the heart...

Chawkbazar Shahi Mosque is also known as Chawk Mosque is a mosque located in the Chowk Bazaar area in the old city of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The mosque was constructed in 1664 by Subahdar Shaista Khan. The mosque is known as the Shahi Mosque because it was founded by Subahdar Shaista Khan. The mosque is built above a raised platform. The three domed mosque above the platform, now transformed into a multi-storied structure was originally a copy of Shaista Khan's another three domed mosque at the Mitford Hospital compound near the Buriganga River. There are some square-shaped rooms built for the Imam and for students of the madrasa. Today the original building design has lost much of its original form through multiple renovations and extensions. The mosque is noted for having a rainbow minaret. The construction has been dated to 1664, as noted by an inscription in the Persian language over a doorway. The inscription attributes the project to Subahdar Shaista Khan. So far known this is the earliest dated mosque in the History of Muslim Architecture in Bengal built on a high vaulted platform. Its architectural design was perhaps influenced by Tughlaq Architectures; such as Khirki Masjid or Kalan Mosque of Delhi. Influenced by this structure some other mosques were built...

Traditional and very old iftar market of Bangladesh. Many says this market started in the mughal period. Very crowdy place, you will get so many food item for iftar. The market bustles with shoppers from all localities while traders display a variety of iftar items from afternoon. The most popular delicacy in Chawkbazar is the "boro baper polay khai", a mixture of chickpeas, brains, minced meat, potatoes, chira, egg, chicken, 13 spices and ghee and jilapi among others. Other famous iftar items include giant beef and chicken roasts, suti kebab (marinated minced meat), shahi doi bora (fried and spiced lentil balls dipped in yoghurt), mutton and chicken cutlet, kima roll (a roll of chopped meat), different types of kebab, kima parata, hilsha eggs, borhani, roasts of pigeon and koyel, bundia, and different kinds of sweetmeats. One thing I should add is, when it’s iftar time then every shop owner offer you their traditional murimakha for free with love.Maybe for just this love I will travel chakbazar again.

Chawkbazar Shahi Mosque (Bengali: āϚāĻ•āĻŦāĻžāϜāĻžāϰ āĻļāĻžāĻšā§€ āĻŽāϏāϜāĻŋāĻĻ) also known as Chawk Mosque is a mosque located in the Chowk Bazaar area in the old city of Dhaka, Bangladesh.[1] The mosque was constructed in 1664 by Subahdar Shaista Khan.[2] The mosque is known as the Shahi Mosque because it was founded by Subahdar Shaista Khan.
