জিয়াউর রহমানের সমাধির দক্ষিণ পাশে ক্রিসেন্ট লেক অবস্থিত। এটি বাঁকা চাঁদের মত দেখতে বিধায় ক্রিসেন্ট লেক নাম রাখা হয়েছে। এটির দক্ষিণ পাশে চমৎকার করে সিঁঁড়ি তৈরি করা হয়েছে ও দর্শণার্থীদের বসার স্থান করা হয়েছে চারপাশজুড়ে। ভিতরে প্রবেশের জন্য লেকের মাঝখান দিয়ে তৈরি হয়েছে মনোরম সেতু। ক্রিসেন্ট লেকের মাঝে ঝুলন্ত সেতুর দুই পাশে দুটি ফোয়ারা রয়েছে। সন্ধ্যার পর ফোয়ারাগুলো চালু করা হলে এক নয়নাভিরাম দৃশ্যের অবতারণা ঘটে।

জিয়াউর রহমানের সমাধিতে যাওয়ার জন্য ক্রিসেন্ট লেকের ওপর নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে ঝুলন্ত সেতু। নয়নাভিরাম ওই প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে ব্যয় হয়েছিল ৩৫ কোটি টাকা। জাতীয় সংসদের স্থপতি লুই আই ক্যানের মাস্টারপ্ল্যান নকশার সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে চন্দ্রিমা উদ্যানের আধুনিকায়ন করা হয়েছিল। কাজের সময় প্রাধান্য দেয়া হয়েছিল নৈসর্গিক সৌন্দর্যের বিস্তৃতিকে। ২০০৪ সালের ৭ই নভেম্বর ব্রিজটি উদ্বোধন করেন তৎকালীন রাষ্ট্রপতি অধ্যাপক ড. ইয়াজউদ্দিন আহম্মেদ ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া। বাঁকা চাঁদ লেক বা ক্রিসেন্ট লেকের ওপর স্থাপিত হয়েছে এই সাসপেন্ডেড ব্রিজটি। এই সেতু সংসদ ভবনের উত্তর পাশ থেকে সমাধি পর্যন্ত জায়গাটিকে দিয়েছে বাড়তি সৌন্দর্য। অর্ধচন্দ্রাকৃতির সেতুটি বিশেষত্ব হল বিশেষভাবে স্টিল হ্যাঙ্গারের ওপর তৈরি হয়েছে। দাঁড়িয়ে আছে সিঙ্গেল আরসিসি আর্চের ওপর। হ্যাঙ্গার পাইপ দিয়ে বিশেষ কৌশলে চাপিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছে ব্রিজের ওজন। আর্চটি ত্রিমাত্রিক কনক্রিট দিয়ে তৈরি। বিদেশিরা এটা করে থাকেন স্টিল দিয়ে। সেতুর পাটাতন বা ডেকে বসানো হয়েছে আধুনিক উন্নত মানের গ্লাস।

বিদেশ থেকে আমদানি করা ওই গ্লাসের নাম টেম্পারড গ্লাস। এর পুরুত্ব ৩১ মিলিমিটার। মাঝে ভিপিএফ দিয়ে দু’টি গ্লাস পরস্পরের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত। হট ডিডপ গ্যালভানাইজিং স্টিল ফ্রেমের ওপর টেম্পারড গ্লাস বসানো। সেতুর কম্পন মাত্রা ৫ হার্জ, লাইভ লোড ১৪০ পিসিআই এবং ব্রিজের ওজন ১২০ টন। আর ব্রিজটি ওজন সইতে পারে ২০০ টনেরও বেশি। ব্রিজটির রেলিং তৈরি করা হয়েছে অ্যাসেস স্টেইনলেস স্টিল দিয়ে। মাঝে আছে স্টিলের চিকন ক্যাবল। সেতুর নিচে স্থাপন করা হয়েছে ৩০টি বিশেষ ধরনের লাইট। পাটাতন থেকে রঙিন আলোর বিচ্ছুরণ সেতু পথটিকে আলোকময় রাস্তায় পরিণত করে। ঝুলন্ত সেতুর পশ্চিম ও পূর্ব পাশে বসানো হয়েছে বেশ কয়েকটি বড় বড় ফোয়ারা। উপরের দিকে ধাবমান ফোয়ারার পানি আর সেতুর আর্চ মিলে চতুর্মাত্রিক আবহ সৃষ্টি করে এখানে আগতদের মনে। সেতুর গোড়ার দিকে মাটির নিচ থেকে নেমে এসেছে রঙিন পানির ঝর্ণা। সেতুর ওপরে মাঝখানে রয়েছে কৌণিক রঙিন আলোর বিচ্ছুরণ। দেশের প্রতিটি অন্ধকার কোণায় আলো ছড়িয়ে...
