Went to Grassroots Cafe at Mirpur's Aarong today. Wonderful experience, without doubt. Loved the atmosphere, which was pretty laid back and rustic. The ceiling design was quite eye-catching. Minimalist styling, but quite attractive, nonetheless. And the waiters were quite pleasant. The food was out of this world! I have been quite blown away, to be honest. Went for the following items; Seafood Fried Rice x 2 @ 190tk per plate Stir Fried Squid x 1 @ 250tk Iced Mocha x 1 @ 140tk Tamarind Juice x 2 @ 50tk per glass. Add a 10% service charge and 15% VAT. The food was brilliant, but the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Tamarind Juice. Extremely refreshing, especially if served cold and after a hot evening, just like I had. Superb in texture and the tamarind flavor plays around with your tastebuds in quite an appealing fashion. Ratings: Food: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 9/10 (unless there's a crowd, so I had some good luck today) Tamarind Juice: 10/10 (sorry, couldn't resist. The juice was that good!)

Coming to the food, we had the Dumpling Soup and Thai Soup as appetisers. The dumpling was well made with generous filling and paired well with the clear soup. It had a nice aroma of ginger and bits of mushroom made it the best item of this place. The Thai Soup was also very good and had a nice thick consistency. The Peri Peri Grilled Fish was good enough. It was flavourful but lacked the peri peri essence to it. Maybe a bit more of the sauce on the top would’ve done the trick. Jamaican Jerk Chicken was also tasty. For poultry options you can’t go wrong with it. Both came paired with rice and vegetables which made it fulfilling although the Jamaican Jerk Chicken’s rice was topped by an egg. The Iced Mocha was refreshing but a bit sweet to my liking. The service we received from the staff was...
