Given to the people of Derby in 1867 by Michael Bass of Bass Brewery with a covenant that essentially prevents the land from being used for anything other than a public park.

It's sometimes referred to as the Holmes and is essentially an island of sorts.

Basically it's an open green space almost directly in the city centre, popular during the summer, there's sometimes events held. It also forms part of Derby's national cycle network.

There's also a very popular skate park near the city centre/bus station side.

Nice enough but with a little investment it could be excellent.
