Lovely museum and definitely worth visiting, though a little under-interpreted. The history of the city is obviously fascinating, but would benefit from more context or at least signposting to another museum where you can find broader context (e.g. Why did Charles the Bold burn the place down? Why was the cathedral destroyed to begin with? These things are alluded to presumably assuming background knowledge but never actually explained.) You often find yourself looking at undated finds or remains and wondering what exactly you are looking at (part of the Roman villa? the gothic cathedral? something else?) Some additional signposting would be great for those of us who aren't experts. I suggest getting the tablet because the booklet doesn't actually include all the content. I thoroughly enjoyed how the various layers ranging from ancient history, Roman, Romanesque and Gothic were all so well interwoven to tell a rich tale of history and heritage. I do recommend this great place. I would just suggest that the entrance be made a bit more visible... Perhaps a banker...
