This location is one of the major photo hot spots in Ostend. The main monument is dedicated to the fishers and sailors lost at sea. The other controversial work of 'art' you'll find here is 'Rock Strangers' from the artist Arne Quinze: these are the red deliberately dented iron rocks. Besides you'll find fountains here, an ice cream stand, a food truck and here is also the entrance to the pier. Opinions differ widely on 'Rock Strangers': in the past some activists tried to burn it, even law cases were filed to have it removed but make up your own mind on the meaning of 'Rock Strangers' by visiting it. This location is best visited at sunset for panoramic shots (see photos)....

Weekday visit from Brussels on the train via Bruges. Beach was being ready for the summer season. Looked nice and clean and clear of any mess or dog fouling. Plenty of school children enjoying the sea front. You can walk / cycle for miles even to the French border and back if the mood takes you. Plenty of eateries along the way to suit all budgets and tastes. Visit enjoy and out your...

Beautiful waterfront. It is very well kept and clean. Easy to walk along the beach and surrounding city. People were very friendly. Even on a dark rainy day, it was very beautiful. I would recommend visiting in the summer when it is warm and sunny. All in all, it is a great waterfront attraction that is...
