This location is one of the major photo hot spots in Ostend. The main monument is dedicated to the fishers and sailors lost at sea. The other controversial work of 'art' you'll find here is 'Rock Strangers' from the artist Arne Quinze: these are the red deliberately dented iron rocks. Besides you'll find fountains here, an ice cream stand, a food truck and here is also the entrance to the pier. Opinions differ widely on 'Rock Strangers': in the past some activists tried to burn it, even law cases were filed to have it removed but make up your own mind on the meaning of 'Rock Strangers' by visiting it.
