Strand Oostende — Attraction in Ostend

Beautiful beach. A lot different then I remember... a lot better. Almost no people at the beach since it is not the season. I actually had the chance of seeing what they made of it. It has become a very large beach. I also think they are preparing for the climate change. They added a lot more sand and the stairs were halfway burried. It was very clean and I even saw some dogs. I think dogs are allowed during winter. I did miss one thing... the smell. I did not smell the sea. I loved that smell. As soon as I got out of the car, I could smell it. Maybe it is because they added the sand and covered the old shells and algae? Anyway... it is definitely worth visiting. The art on the dike is a little comic... like very large soda cans they left behind and they decided to...

The beach itself is beautiful, long and broad and Sandy. But there are very few facilities, e.g. 1 shower in 100 meters, same with bathrooms. Also only a few bars directly at the beach. What is however even worse, is the wind. The beach is very windy and there is no place to hide. Some sunbeds with some fabric to protect from the wind are offered, but they are very far from the sea... Similarly Also some small "houses" are offered to lease, but Also far from the sea. And a warning to those who have never Been - Ostende is not a picturesque town - it was destroyed in WW II and rebuild in a very poor taste - the new buildings facing the sea are mostly Concrete and simply ugly. I love this beach, it's not that crowded and very clean. It's super nice to walk by during the evening. I have so much fun playing nearby while the sun sets at end of the sea by the horizon. Loved the view. Buy the water was freaking cold. Near by you can find the stature of the fishermen and the random red cubes that I still don't understand what they actually stand for. Hahha. It's super close to the center, however, the food from the kiosks by the sea are very expensive. There is a little fish marker nearby but I haven't tried...
