This was a cruise excursion. They tendered us to the port in Belize and then waited probably for about 1.5 hours before we got on the bus. We were the first to get there and last group to load a bus. The bus ride was informative and took about 1 hr 20 minutes. We were forced to eat first (it was 10:30 am). The food was not tasty. The juice was watered down. The food for purchase looked good but was highly priced. A bottle of Coke was $5, the lockers are $10.
The walk to the actual cave is underestimated. It is uphill. You are carrying your tube. Rocks everywhere so water shoes didn’t work too soft. The guide walked extremely fast and hard to keep up with. The cave tubing was beautiful. You hardly get wet once in the tube. 4 of the 8 in our group had helmets where the lights didn’t work, so hard to see walls of cave etc. 25 minutes tubing and you’re done. Then we had to wait for EVERYONE on our bus to finish before we could leave… waited almost 2 hours before we could leave. Nothing to do. Wasn’t fun. Wouldn’t recommend. Felt like the...
Read moreWe booked this trip with Carnival Cruise Lines for Wednesday March 22, 2023. Long bus ride but we didn't expect the caves to be right in town. Raymond was so engaging and entertaining, we couldn't help but enjoy the long ride(s). I cannot recall the name of our river cave tubing and jungle tour guide, (Jorge?) but he was also amazing. It was fairly easy to get outfitted and get in a group of 6 for cave tubing. When we arrived back at "camp", the food was just okay, and not at all presented like in the picture. We got stuff slapped into a takeout container and a dixie cup full of watered down koolaid. Bus ride home was more subdued, but Raymond was still funny and answered many questions. The cave tubing and the walk ("foot massage") was very fun and beautiful, but they could do better with the lunch. Would do it again if we can get the same...
Read moreWhat an experience! Tubes, life jackets, and helmets with lights are provided. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the cave and river. There was a bit of a trail to walk, about 15/20 mins, so wear some comfortable shoes to walk in that you also don't mind getting wet as you have to wade through the river along the trail. Once you arrive at the beginning of the river, you get to relax in your tube, take in the scenery, and listen to the guide. There is a lot of history to learn. The guides get paid through the job, but it's customary to also tip, so bring cash. There's a bathroom large enough for dressing and a bathhouse as well. We changed into swim gear and changed back after the tour. Low impact type of excursion. I definitely...
